Monster Energy Is Making Hard Lemonade—and They’re Not Playing Around

Nothing says summer like lemonade, nothing says a summer party like hard lemonade, and nothing says summer of 2025 like “Monster Energy just launched a line of hard lemonades.” We live in a broken timeline.

Yes, Monster’s brand new “Blind Lemon Hard Lemonade” line is crashing into stores with four flavors (Original, Peach, Strawberry, and Cherry) at 6% ABV each. As if that wasn’t enough, two of those flavors (Original and Strawberry) are hitting shelves in tallboy cans at 9% ABV. Let’s dissect exactly what got humanity to this point.

Wait, Monster Energy makes alcohol now?

Monster Beverage Corporation obtained a popular collective of craft breweries called CANarchy in 2022; that collective was rebranded last year as Monster Brewing Company. If you’re not that deep into the financials, it will definitely look like Monster Energy just produces alcoholic drinks now.

Back in 2023, a line of hard malt beverages based on popular Monster Energy flavors called “The Beast Unleashed” hit shelves for the first time. A year later, the family expanded with the “Nasty Beast Hard Tea.” Okay, Monster might have gone too far with those.

Are these new hard Monster flavors caffeinated?

This is not a Four Loko situation. All “The Beast Unleashed” hard malt beverages are 100% caffeine free, while “Nasty Beast Hard Tea” drinks contain less than 15mg of caffeine per can (due to the real tea included in the drink). The subject of today’s piece is also 100% caffeine free—pretty standard for lemonade, hard or otherwise.

Does Monster really have the right to slap their branding on lemonade?

This is definitely a big step for a company that 99% of people exclusively know as an energy drink company. That said, Monster isn’t a total stranger to tea or lemonade; their underrated “Rehab” line of non-carbonated drinks are mostly based on popular flavors of teas and lemonades. Still, this baby is punching above its branding weight class against Mike and Twisted.
