Pillsbury’s New Pumpkin Stuffed Cupcakes Are Perfect For Fall Parties

Cupcakes are good. Stuffed cupcakes are great. Stuffed cupcakes that you can make at home instead of having to buy, spending vast amounts of money that could be put to perhaps more prudent use elsewhere, are the best of all. That’s what Pillsbury seems to be thinking, too. I have these brands’ psychologies down to a T, not to toot my own horn and all that.

Anyway, following hot on the heels of Pillsbury’s new Football Cookie Dough, released in time for football season, it’s graced us with a new Pumpkin Stuffed Cupcake kit. This may well be your fall favorite. 

Pillsbury Pumpkin Stuffed Cupcake Kits

As is now somewhat customary, the release of this non-press-announced new baked good came from @candyhunting, who spied it at Walmart. Pillsbury’s Pumpkin Stuffed Cupcake Kits are a two-part affair: You get a pumpkin cupcake mix, and you get a pouch of cream cheese-flavored filling. You combine the mix, pour it into your molds, and then add the filling straight in – no prebaking required here. As the cupcakes bake, the filling sinks into the batter, becoming a little flavor bomb to be discovered within. 

Generally speaking, filled cupcakes are made by piping the filling in, or else cutting a hole out of the middle and then covering it with frosting – so I’m not quite sure how Pillsbury has engineered it so that you don’t have to do either, and I’m also uncertain as to whether every cupcake will be successful. I envisage many-a-batter-and-cream-cheese-merge on the horizon. If you want to give it a go, though, you have the resources to get a few wrong: There’s enough mix and filling here to make 24 cupcakes, and by the looks of the box art, enough filling to top the cupcakes with an additional crown of cream cheese (well, something cream cheese-flavored, at least). 

The Product You Never Knew You Needed

Pumpkin-flavored filled cupcakes probably weren’t on many people’s wishlist this year, but folks are still happy they’re here. “Sounds really good,” said one person in @candyhunting’s comment section – and they do sound good. They’re definitely a bit more interesting than some of the other pumpkin and pumpkin spice products that are appearing right now, without being over-the-top or just plain weird. If you want to try them, I’d move quickly, before we’re in the depths of winter. Like the leaves on the trees, they’ll soon be gone.
