I’m a dedicated fan of stroopwafels. If stroopwafels were a boyband, I’d be rushing to get to the barrier at every gig. If stroopwafels were a movie star, I’d be begging for an autograph at the premiere of their latest movie. If stroopwafels were a tennis player, I’d be snapping up Wimbledon tickets. You get the idea. I love these things. And they really come into their own this time of year: A cup of coffee at around 11 am, with a crunchy, caramel-filled waffle as an accompaniment, as you gaze out at the falling leaves? Tell me that’s not heaven.

Clearly, Sam’s Club shares my passion for these little Dutch delights, because its stroopwafels are back. Snap them up! Quick!
Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Stroopwafels
This week, @samsclubfoodreview revealed that Sam’s Club has revived its Member’s Mark Stroopwafels for another year. In each box, you get 30 individually wrapped stroopwafels, each one a sandwich of super-thin waffle cookie and caramel syrup. Every box costs $10.98, so it’s just over $0.36 per piece, if you want to break it down.
Sam’s Club has stocked its Member’s Mark Stroopwafels for a good few years now around this time of year, and every time they appear, they get a very warm reception from customers. While they can’t quite compete with the brands you’d find in stores in the Netherlands, the general consensus is that they’re a very worthy Stateside option, and they have the full-bodied chew and nutty, sweet caramel taste you’d expect from this snack. Importantly, though, they don’t stick around for long whenever Sam’s Club drops them, so if you’re keen, I wouldn’t sleep on them.
Stroopwafel + Coffee = Heaven
Now, you can just eat these straight out of the wrapper if you so wish, or give them a quick blast in the microwave. The traditional way to enjoy them, though, is to place your stroopwafel on top of a cup of coffee, or another hot beverage, and allow it to warm from below. After a few minutes, the steam will have unlocked the unctuous smoothness of the caramel syrup, and one side will have an ever-so-slight dampness that acts as a nice contrast to the crunch on the other one. Plus, you get to feel all smug that you’ve harnessed heat that’s already available, and not turned on an appliance to get the same effect. Hey, it’s nice to feel like your snack is somewhat environmentally friendly.
