Selena Gomez’s Latest Hit? Her New Oreo Flavor

Selenators, rise up. Your fandom has been rewarded with a Selena Gomez Oreo. This month, Selena Gomez Oreo cookies hit shelves around the globe. (Read our original news coverage for the full history.) Lucky for you, I didn’t have to go around the globe to taste them. The good people at Oreo sent over an early package; so let’s find out whether these horchata-inspired cookies measure up to that lofty inspiration.

What are Selena Gomez Oreos made of?

Much like the Post Malone Oreos from earlier this year, we have to go layer by layer. First, the base: two cinnamon-chocolate wafers. In between those wafers, we have two layers of creme: one cinnamon-flavored-chocolate and one sweetened condensed milk-flavored creme with cinnamon sugar inclusions. Longtime readers of my Oreo coverage on Sporked will recall my first encounter with “inclusions” in Oreo flavors—whatever they are, they’re tasty.

Pros: These new Oreos are fantastic. The chocolate horchata vibes are exactly what you’d hope for—it’s giving horchata stroopwafel. The sweetened condensed milk creme is unique and, dare I say it, a better flavor than standard Oreo creme. I’m noticing my favorite Oreos frequently have two different layers of creme—move over, double stuf.

Cons: Without doing cookie surgery to taste each layer separately, it’s hard to determine whether we truly needed to cinnamon-ize each individual part of this sandwich cookie. I hope we see this condensed milk creme layer again in the future—sans those cinnamon sugar inclusions. Someone tell the Oreo scientists to get working on a golden tres leches cookie ASAP.
