While we were all distracted by Sour Patch Kids invading the Oreo production line, another unexpected candy collaboration snuck its way onto the internet right under our noses. A few weeks ago, multiple online candy retailers revealed images of Snapple-flavored bags of Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish, expected on shelves later this year. Consumers have spoken: Enough of the candy-flavored drinks, bring on the drink-flavored candies!
Which Snapple flavors are going to be pumped into these defenseless children and fish?
The Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish will both feature a mix of the same three Snapple flavors: Mango Madness, Fruit Punch, and Kiwi Strawberry. Yes, these choices are definitely unexpected, since only one of those three drinks made into our ranking of the top ten Snapple flavors—at #2, no less. Some shocked commenters have already begun asking the question we’re all thinking: Where is Snapple Apple!? Despite the underdog flavor picks, we’re definitely looking forward to comparing these candies to the Snapples they’re based on—and each other.
Snapple in a candy? That’s unprecedented! Right?
Not quite! While these are the first gummy collaborations for Snapple (and congrats to them, launching two at once is quite a big swing), there’s actually been a Snapple-flavored candy on shelves for years now—jelly beans! In the field of drink-flavored candy, Jelly Belly is really doing the most out here. They sell dozens of drink-flavored jelly beans based on Dr Pepper, A&W Root Beer and Cream Soda, Sunkist, 7-UP, Orange and Grape Crush, classic cocktails, boba milk tea, and, as mentioned, Snapple! Jelly Belly’s Snapple Mix bag features the same three flavors we’ll be seeing in Sour Patch Kid and Swedish Fish form, plus Cranberry Raspberry and Pink Lemonade. (We also found a single image of a hard candy called Snapple Snapplets, a product which is otherwise completely undocumented online. The more you know?)
When can I buy the Best Stuff on Earth in gummy form?
Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact release date for these candies just yet. Having multiple visible retailer listings means it’s likely to be released within six months, but that’s just an inference from past research. Our best guess would be that we’ll see an official announcement and release some time this fall, but take that with a grain of salt, er, citric acid. We also have yet to confirm the most pressing question regarding this entire release: Will there be a Snapple Fact on each bag? Only time will tell.
