After a wide-ranging wave of food and beverage collaborations, DC Studios’ Supergirl finally hits theaters this week. (Since I’m a big nerd, I caught an early screening a few days ago. It’s good! The internet needs to calm down.) As Sporked’s preeminent movie-flavored food/beverage reviewer, I’ve already tackled KFC’s Supergirl Ultimate Meal… but what about dessert? KFC’s meal was notably treat-free; luckily, another company is stepping up to deliver the final course.

Late-night favorite Insomnia Cookies sent over both of their Supergirl-inspired cookies (in their themed Supergirl box sleeve), available while supplies last. How do Red Velvet Revenge and Lemon Solar Punch fare? Are these cookies as in-character as KFC’s Lobo-themed ranch? Let’s find out.

Red Velvet Revenge by Insomnia Cookies Review
Red Velvet Revenge - Insomnia Cookies x Supergirl

New Insomnia Cookie!

Pros: This red velvet cookie is packed with a secret core of blue sugar cookie dough for a visually striking and texturally interesting end product. Flavor-wise, the cooked red velvet and uncooked sugar cookie flavors circle around each other for a fun, very sweet experience. While Insomnia Cookies is proud to deliver cookies while they’re still warm and soft, I can confirm these cookies stay soft for entire days after arrival.

Cons: The red velvet crumble on top doesn’t add any new flavors; I would have loved to see a yellow crumble instead to complete the trifecta of supersuit colors worn by this cookie’s inspiration.

Lemon Solar Punch by Insomnia Cookies Review
Lemon Solar Punch - Insomnia Cookies x Supergirl

New Insomnia Cookie!

Pros: This cookie is, fittingly for the name, bright! The generous portion of strawberry jam at the center of this lemon cookie stays strong for multiple days–no yellow sun exposure required. I’d absolutely describe the strength of both fruit flavors as “super”.

Cons: The toasted honey crumble on top is totally drowned out by all the fruit flavors; I assumed it was just more lemon until I read the flavor description in detail. Flipping the crumbles on these two cookies would have made a better visual impact. (Is it obvious these cookies are good if the bulk of my Cons for both are purely visual?)
