Earlier this month, I found out that Robert Downey Jr.’s coffee company “Happy” was partnering with Tate’s Bake Shop on a two-way product launch: cookie-flavored coffees and coffee-flavored cookies. As a big Tate’s fan (and someone who rooted for Iron Man during Captain America: Civil War), I had to get my hands on these.

We’ve got three products to review today: a canned latte from Happy, a ground coffee from Happy, and a new cookie from Tate’s. All three of these are exclusive to Walmart, but if you don’t want to hunt them down in-store, you can actually get a reasonably-priced variety box on Walmart.com containing all three new products and a pack of standard Tate’s Chocolate Chip Cookies and a canned Happy Vanilla Latte!

Cookie Latte!

Pros: Oh, this is heaven on earth. This is the best canned coffee I’ve ever had. The high-quality coffee itself isn’t buried in sugar or other flavors, but it isn’t so strong that it’ll turn off a non-coffee drinker (such as myself). This received glowing compliments from every taste tester I put it in front of.

Cons: It’s worth noting that this isn’t technically a cookie flavored latte. Per the description on the can, this is “chocolatey chip with notes of browned butter,” and it delivers. That said, if you’re really looking for a chocolate chip cookie flavored coffee, this isn’t exactly that.

Vanilla Latte Tate’s Bake Shop Cookies

Vanilla Latte Tate’s Bake Shop Cookies

Pros: This is a high-quality cookie, which isn’t abnormal for Tate’s. There’s just something about that snap.

Cons: This is a good cookie, don’t get me wrong, but there’s no “latte” flavor to speak of. It’s certainly got vanilla and even smells like a latte, but despite the actual coffee baked into this cookie, it just doesn’t come across in the taste. That said, this worked super well as a stroopwafel equivalent for the coffee I made with the next product we’re reviewing.

Happy Chocolatey Chip Cookie Ground Coffee

Cookie Coffee!

Happy Chocolatey Chip Cookie Ground Coffee

Pros: I’m not a ground coffee aficionado, so I brought in a ringer for this one: my ex-black apron barista of a partner. That said, even my inexperienced self could tell this was just a better quality coffee than I’ve had before. This leaves Folger’s in the dust. It isn’t too acidic and the cocoa notes are really well balanced. While this tastes different from the canned latte (which makes sense, considering this is actually cookie-flavored), they’re both very well made.

Cons: Per the expert, the cookie flavor doesn’t come to the surface without cream and sugar—not uncommon for flavored ground coffee, but worth mentioning.
