Anyone who frequently buys Nutella knows just how hard it is to keep the darn thing full for an extended period of time. I personally cannot allow myself to have even one of the miniature jars in the pantry. You can dunk literally anything into it and it’ll taste better. It’s kinda like bacon in that way. Do you want any dessert upgraded to an 11? Smear it in Nutella. Do you have a bag of pretzels or potato chips that feel a bit boring on their own? Nutella is the creamy, hazelnut-flavored answer. And let’s be honest, you don’t even need any heckin’ ingredients for dunking or smearing. Many of us Nutella Nerds simply twist off the lid, drop in a spoon or our bare finger, and raw dog the sweet spread until our shame starts to kick in halfway through. Yeah, Nutella is one of the best things out there.

The worst part about that jar of Nutella staring in your face from your pantry shelf is that eventually, you’ll use up the final drops, and lo and behold, no more Nutella until you take another trip to the supermarket. You know how after a great meal finally comes to an end you feel a bit sad that it’s all over? Well, you get that same feeling when you stare into your empty Nutella jar. But, thanks to a Youtuber named SimplyHomeCooked, there’s one last-minute trick you can employ that ensures every last stuck-on bit of Nutella makes it into your belly and it’s too easy not to do.

The Nutella Milk Trick

This trick is so simple and it only requires one single ingredient besides the sad and empty Nutella jar: milk. Yep, that’s it. And it doesn’t matter which kind of milk you drink, whether it’s oat, almond, skim, whole, or any other variation in your fridge. It’s literally a two-step process you could teach your dog (well, maybe not). Pour the milk into the empty Nutella jar, twist on the lid, and shake the heck out of it. Put a little elbow work into the shaking so the milk strips off the stuck-on Nutella. Then untwist the lid, grab a glass, and you suddenly have a delicious cup of chocolate-hazelnut milk. The hazelnut flavor puts it a step above regular chocolate milk, so that’s a double win. Now you can toss out that Nutella jar knowing you used it to its full capacity. You’ve reached certified Nutella Nerd status now and we salute you.

Other Uses For Empty Nutella Jars

This chocolate milk trick is far from the only thing you can do with an empty jar of Nutella. You can pour heavy cream into the bottle and freeze it to make ice cream, or add in espresso, shake it up, and pour it over ice for a hazelnut-flavored morning coffee. So, get creative before dumping that bottle in the trash. Your appetite is counting on you.
