There’s something about Oreos that feel distinctly celebratory. Not only is their taste nostalgic, but every time I’ve ever eaten Oreo (or anything cookies and cream flavored for that matter) I’ve never thought “Wow, this is a boring cookie.” Instead, the thought process has always been much more along the lines of “Gosh, these really are perfect cookies.”

And, because of that, I think the holidays are perfect time to actually take stock of what Oreo has to offer and pick out a flavor to enjoy during the festivities. Plus, they’re kind of the perfect party food for any holiday gathering since it’s pretty much guaranteed that people are gonna be happy with them.
This year, though, Oreo is releasing an extra special (and very limited) flavor to help us celebrate the holiday season with a little more pep in our step. Here’s everything you need to know about the exclusive Oreo drop coming soon.
Celebrate All Night Long
This newest Oreo flavor is designed to help you keep the party going into the night with a little extra help from our dear friend: espresso. And, while it’s not explicitly a holiday flavor, we’re just gonna go ahead and say that anything released in the “-ber” months that follows holiday food trends counts as a holiday flavor.
With Espresso Martini Milanos, Tiramisu Velvet Lattes at Starbucks, and the Tiramisu Collection at Dunkin’ all as part of this year’s fall/winter flavor releases, it’s safe to say this isn’t just some fluke that we’re seeing and abundance of espresso this time of year. Is officially a trend, and we’re not mad about it. In fact, anything that gets us to a point where we’re seeing Oreo release an espresso cream-filled cookie works for us.
These limited-edition cookies are officially called the Oreo Thins Espresso Creme Chocolate Sandwich Cookies. We can imagine the combination of the deep cocoa flavor of the cookies and the espresso cream filling will fall somewhere between the Oreo of our dreams and a delightful mocha flavor. Now, the issue isn’t whether or not we are excited for this launch or if we will even like the flavor. The issue is getting them.
The Peak Of Exclusivity
Despite how sure we are that this would be a hugely successful flavor for Oreo due to the generally spectacular flavor combination of chocolate and espresso, Oreo has decided that this is going to be potentially one of the most difficult Oreos to come by. You see, they are only making one batch of these Oreos. So not only are they limited addition, but there will only be 1,000 packs of them made altogether.
In order to get one of these exclusive packs, you have to sign up on the Oreo brand website sometime between October 20 in November 3. Then, on November 4 you’ll receive a redemption code via email and the first 1,000 people to do so we receive one of the limited-supply packs. The packs themselves are free, you just have to pay for the $2.99 in shipping, which is still cheaper than a standard pack of Oreos.
While we are hoping to be one of people lucky enough to try this elusive flavor, we are also hoping that the flavor will eventually become more widely available. Even if we got one pack from the drop, we’re sure that this would’ve been a repeat purchase for us if it had been a regular release.
