These New Tater Tots Are Bringing Back Childhood (In The Best Way)

Dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets are an interesting thing. I was prepared to start this off by talking about the nostalgia of it all. Which is valid. There’s something quintessentially childlike about dino nuggies. I was conflicted though–dino nuggies should be for adults, too. I’ve often found myself day dreaming in front of the frozen chicken nuggets door in the freezer aisle, talking myself up into buying them at the age of 32 years old. I should get to relive childhood, too!

Ore-Ida Agrees: More Childlike Wonder For All

I’m glad to see someone else out there who’s willing to put ten toes down for the whimsy of it all. Ore-Ida, yes of tater fame, just launched two new tater tot shapes to help the cause. They’re adding star and dino shaped tots into their lineup. Their first new shapes in over two decades, in fact. Plates across the country are about to get a lot more magical.

Actually, now looking at them written out next to each other, it’s a little grim. Dinosaur shaped tots have to share the spotlight with the reminder of what took them out: a “shooting star.” That’s cold!

Taking The Tater Tot Space Back

I will concede that Ore-Ida rightfully owns the tater tot space. They literally invented the things. It is a little comical to get this heated up about tater tots, but who am I to judge? I get intense about other foods like Oreos. I guess we all have our thing.

As if we weren’t spoiled enough, Ore-Ida also used this launch to tease more shapes coming soon. They promise that additional shapes are in development and are set to roll out next year. We can hardly wait!
