Even though it’s been a couple of decades since I hit the streets to trick-or-treat on Halloween, I can still point out which houses in my neighborhood were famous for handing out full-size candy bars and top-tier candy choices. And if you’ve become the kind of adult who’s excited to take on this mantle and treat costumed kids to the best candy possible, despite rising candy prices, there’s something you need to know.

You’re probably buying your candy in bulk — and you’re probably buying it from the wrong place.
While Costco seems like the smartest place to spend your adult candy money, there’s actually a trick that’ll help Costco members get better, bigger candy and plenty of value.
Don’t Buy Candy at Any Costco: Head to the Business Center
Ahead of Halloween, Costco is stocked with plenty of supersized bags of candy. And while these big bags of miniatures seem like a decent deal, they’re really just average. If you’re hoping to give out the good stuff — like full-size candy bars or simply bigger options than “fun-sized” — then you need to shop at a different kind of Costco.
You need to head to the Costco Business Center.
All Costco members can visit a Costco Business Center, where different bulk items are sold. And here, when it comes to candy, you’ll get way more value for your money.
Just compare Costco’s Mars Mini Chocolate Candy Variety Pack, which includes 200 mini candy bars for $21. That seems like a perfectly fine price — but remember, these are the teeniest, tiniest Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, and other candy bars you can buy.
Over at Costco Business Center, you can actually pick up the exact same bag of candy for $0.50 less. But if you want bigger bars for trick-or-treaters who stop by, you’ll want to buy the Mars Chocolate Candy Bars Full-Size Variety Pack, which includes 30 bars (and two types of M&Ms) for $33. Yes, technically it’s less candy, but these bars are more than double the size of those minis. And you’re getting full-size M&Ms bags, too.
You’ll also find Halloween favorites like the 30-count Hershey’s Chocolate Candy Bars Full-Size Variety Pack, which includes Reese’s and classic chocolate bars, for just $24.
Ultimately, while the candy count is lower, you are getting more candy per serving for your money when you buy from Costco Business Center. And if you’re looking to hand out better candy, this is exactly what you need to have on hand.
Costco Business Center Offers a Better Value on All Kinds of Candy
It’s not just chocolate and candy bars that offer more value at Costco Business Center versus your typical Costco warehouse. Other types of candy and sweet snacks similarly offer better bang for your buck.
Just take another popular Halloween candy — Haribo Gummi Candy — for example. At your average Costco, a 120-count bag of mixed gummy bears, snakes, and sour sodas goes for $10. That seems like a great deal, but it’s worth noting each individual trick-or-treat ready bag contains just 0.4 ounces of candy. At Costco Business Center, you can pick up a box of 24 bags of Haribo Goldbears for $18… and each little bag holds 2 ounces of candy.
That’s more than double the amount of candy per serving. And that’s really what trick-or-treaters want, anyway. With this swap, you can hand out more top-tier candy without paying more than double the price. Yes, it’s still slightly more expensive, but it’s a handy hack if you’re hoping to be the full-size candy house this Halloween without completely blowing your budget.
