This Obscure Restaurant Just Beat McDonald’s And Chick-fil-A For Best Breakfast

Breakfast has a few names that almost everyone knows. McDonald’s has the Egg McMuffin. Chick-fil-A has its chicken biscuit. But apparently, neither one has the breakfast game completely figured out. That honor belongs to Biscuitville.

The Southern chain has been named America’s best fast-food breakfast for the fourth year in a row in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. What’s even more impressive is that Biscuitville beat out McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and several other huge fast-food names despite having restaurants in only three states.

Biscuitville Keeps Beating The Big Names

The 2026 USA TODAY 10Best ranking puts Biscuitville at number one, with Farmer Boys in second and Del Taco in third. McDonald’s came in fourth, while Chick-fil-A landed at number five.

Biscuitville has now held the top spot for four straight years. It first won the award in 2023 and has managed to hang on to it ever since. 

The victory is even more surprising when you consider the size of the competition. McDonald’s has thousands of restaurants across the United States. Chick-fil-A has a massive national presence, too. Biscuitville, meanwhile, has around 90 restaurants, and they are concentrated in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

So, most Americans cannot even visit one. But that hasn’t stopped Biscuitville fans from putting it ahead of some of the biggest names in fast food.

Fresh Biscuits Are The Main Attraction

As the name suggests, biscuits are a pretty big deal here. Biscuitville says its biscuits are made from scratch and baked fresh every 15 minutes. The breakfast menu has the usual Bacon, Egg & Cheese and Sausage & Egg options, but the chain gets much more Southern from there. 

There is a Country Ham Biscuit, a Fried Chicken Biscuit and even a Fried Steak Biscuit. The Spicy Chicken & Honey Biscuit adds a sweet-and-spicy kick by pairing fried chicken with honey.

Then there is sausage gravy for those who like their biscuits plain.

Making Breakfast For Decades

Biscuitville may be unfamiliar outside the South, but it’s been in the game for a while. The company’s roots go back to 1966, when founder Maurice Jennings opened bread-and-milk stores in Burlington, North Carolina. 

The first Biscuitville restaurant opened in Danville, Virginia, in 1975. The restaurant eventually moved toward the breakfast-focused concept that people know today. 

You Are Missing Out

Four straight 10Best wins suggest that the people who know Biscuitville really, really like Biscuitville. But a huge chunk of America cannot actually get breakfast from Biscuitville.

I think that’s the great thing about Biscuitville. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, Biscuitville has built its reputation around a Southern breakfast staple and spent decades getting it right.
