Trader Joe’s snack aisle has a lot going on as it is—you can get potato chips that taste like funky blue cheese, a snack mix that’s seasoned like tom yum soup, and crispy stalks of okra even vegetable averse children love. But don’t sleep on the canned goods aisle, people. According to folks on Reddit, Trader Joe’s Greek Chickpeas with Cumin and Parsley make a perfect snack. Sure, you can eat them straight from the can—but if you have an air fryer, you can do something even cooler.

How to make crunchy, air-fried Greek-seasoned chickpeas

TJ’s greek chickpeas come packed in soybean oil. You’ll want to dry the beans off a bit with a paper towel to get rid of any excess oil before you get started. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees to give the chickpeas the best chance at getting crispy. Slide them in on a bit of parchment paper to keep things from sticking and leave them in for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket a few times to make sure the beans heat evenly. Pull them out and let them cool a bit before you dig in. Your tongue will thank you!

Now they’re portable!

Eat your bounty right out of the fryer if you’d like. Or throw them in a bag and take them anywhere. The movies? Sure, why not. To your kid’s soccer game? You bet. To the meeting with your divorce lawyer? Dark, but I don’t see why not. Drying off that pesky oil makes this snack mobile in ways you never thought possible.
