Tyson’s Getting In The Festive Spirit With Its New Nuggets

Ah, yes. The March of the Christmas-Shaped Foods has begun. As is becoming increasingly common each year, late September is the time that we start to see what festive forms food brands have decided to bend their products into for the Yuletide period, and in the last week, we’ve seen a couple of them crop up (Oreo Santas and festive Welch’s Fruit Snacks, in case you were wondering). It’s always pretty innocent fun. These things don’t change the world, but a brief jolt of childlike glee when you see them may be experienced. Perhaps.

Deck The Halls With Boughs Of…Nuggets

Tyson’s Holiday Nuggets are headed to stores soon, as per @candyhunting, and each bag of frozen nugs will contain three different shapes. We’ve got a Christmas tree one, as discussed, and there’s also a reindeer one and a gingerbread man one. All fairly standard, as Christmas shapes go – but no less fun for it. And yes, there’s obviously the slight dissonance of eating something made from chicken that looks absolutely nothing like chicken, but that can be said of pretty much any processed breaded chicken product. 

Tyson’s product joins a long line of shaped nuggets, both made by the brand and by others. Aldi brought out its own Holiday Chicken Nuggets a couple of years back (and that one came with six different shapes – stockings, snowmen, and candy canes were also involved), while Tyson’s Nuggets of Love (ie. heart-shaped nuggets) have been doing the rounds every Valentine’s Day since 2021. Earlier this year, the processed meat giant also brought out its Restaurant Style Waffle Flavored Breaded Chicken Breast Bites, which promised to combine chicken and waffles in one little package. It’s never far off experimenting. 

Festive Fun

By and large, people are taking these new Holiday Nuggets as they’re intended to be taken: With a dose of holiday cheer. The consensus from @candyhunting’s comments is that they’re pretty cute, and that they’d be great for kids. Naturally, there are also a couple of people saying that these have arrived way too early – but hey, at this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if Christmas foods started dropping in May. Expect to see Tyson’s new nuggets in major retailers very soon. The festivities wait for no one.
