In an Instagram Reel sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how the AFC champions, the New England Patriots, are preparing for Sunday, you can see every food item offered at every meal at their plentiful buffet. While the menus are rich in protein and grains as expected, there is no shortage of decadent comfort foods. Here’s what the Pats are eating before the Big Game.
Breakfast
For breakfast, available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., the players are offered scrambled eggs, scrambled egg whites, sliced avocado, bacon, breakfast sausage, English muffin breakfast sandwiches, shredded hash browns, white rice, pancakes, vegan pancakes, French toast, grits, and oatmeal. There are also four types of bread, an assortment of bagels, and spreads like peanut butter, jelly, and almond butter. For athletes who prefer breakfast basics, cereal and milk are available, too.
There’s also an omelet station, which also includes the option of customizing the players’ egg orders, whether they want a fried egg or something slightly more elaborate, with vegetables and protein as toppings. And in case pancakes and French toast weren’t enough for those with a sweet tooth, there is also a waffle station.
Not everything sweet is chock-full of calories; there is a fruit bar that offers healthier options, too. It also doubles as a shake station, allowing them to make their own smoothies.
Lunch
Between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the players can eat a substantial, protein-rich lunch, including beef burritos, grilled chicken over rice, barbecue fried chicken tenders over rice, grilled chicken Caesar wraps, and tortilla chips with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.
While the afternoon meals come pre-packaged for the athletes to grab and go, there is also a salad bar complete with three different types of greens, veggies, and proteins as toppings such as tuna salad, egg salad, grilled chicken, black beans, cheese, croutons, and hummus, along with a variety of dressings.
Supper
Between 2:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., the Patriots will have a pregame meal, with offerings like broccoli, teriyaki salmon, teriyaki chicken, beef filets, potato wedges, linguini, chicken broccoli ziti, cornbread, turkey subs, and dinner rolls. Phew.
