Coffee has never been in such an elastic place. Take one look at the menus of places like 7 Brew, or at coffee creamers made by everyone from International Delight to Aldi, and you’ll see what I mean. People are stretching the flavor profiles that can go into and with coffee to their limits, and you can now make your morning brew taste like pretty much anything you want. Is this a good thing? For coffee purists, absolutely not; for people who like as much choice as humanly possible, absolutely.

The latter are going to love this next move from Java Factory. The coffee brand has just teamed up with some iconic frozen dessert brands to create a host of new flavors. And they’re out there. Let’s discuss.

Flavor52’s Ice Cream Truck Season

Yesterday, Java Factory announced its second themed season via Flavor52, its year-long platform, through which it introduces 52 new flavors each week. This year, it’s going big. The roaster is collaborating with Klondike, Good Humor, Popsicle, Creamsicle, and more to release a host of new frozen-treat-inspired flavors.

Java Factory’s Flavor52 flavors will be brought out across six themed seasons, with names like “Throwback Collection” and “Sweather Weather,” according to its press release – so expect retro offerings in one, sunny day-adjacent options in another. The first, though, is its Ice Cream Truck Season, which will see it bring out a Klondike-flavored coffee on September 14, followed by Raspberry Italian Ice on September 21 and Popsicle Firecracker on September 28. Good Humor Chocolate Éclair and Toasted Almond flavors are to follow on October 5 and 12, respectively, and then a Mystery Halloween flavor is coming on October 19. Spooooky.

How Do I Get Them?

You can grab a Season Pass for its first nine flavors on the Java Factory website for $79.95. Customers can also vote for the flavors they want to stick around and become a permanent addition to Java Factory’s lineup.

And…Will They Be Any Good?

That remains to be seen – but Java Factory’s definitely jumping on an ice cream-y trend in coffee right now. Everywhere we look, we’re seeing sweet cream, flavored cold foams, and coffees that feel like milkshakes. And hey, there’s plenty of coffee-flavored ice cream, right? Basically, the lines between frozen desserts and coffee have never been so blurred, and what with nostalgia’s perennial grip over all things food-related, this team-up with a bunch of classic brands is a smart one. We’ll be keeping an eye on reviews as they come in.
