The New Alani Flavor Sounds Zesty as Heck—and It’s Hitting Stores NOW

What is Alani Nu Lime Slush?

Per that DM I got earlier today, the newest energy drink from the almighty Celsius-Alani Nu corporation features “bright citrus & chill vanilla flavors.” Every can of this zero-sugar energy drink contains 200mg of caffeine—no small kick, compared to your OG Monster Energy and Red Bull drinks, which have 160mg and 151mg in every 16 ounces, respectively. (Seriously, the trend of rising caffeine intake over the past 20 years is worth looking into.)

When does Alani Nu Lime Slush hit shelves?

Officially speaking, this new drink hits shelves nationwide today! That said, based on the social media finds I’ve been tracking, Alani Nu Lime Slush has been popping up on shelves for weeks now. Alani Nu takes a tortoise-esque approach to announcing new flavors, waiting until it’s well-stocked in most places before ever acknowledging the flavor publicly. If you were worn out from hunting down the seemingly delayed Alani Nu Cherry Bomb, this will be a pleasant change of pace.

How is “Slush” a flavor?

Alani Nu has a whole mini-lineup of “Slush” drinks based on classic summertime cool-off flavors, including some of my all-time favorites from the brand. Alani Nu’s Cherry Slush Energy got me on board the brand’s bandwagon a few years ago, while the Paris Hilton-backed Pink Slush Energy was the perfect drink for the Barbie summer of 2024…released a year too late. (It still sold so well that the brand elected to make it permanent before the end of the limited-time sales period.) Alani Nu Blue Slush is also an energy drink you can buy! I wish I had anything stronger to say about that one.

Yes, Alani Nu’s Lime Slush is the fourth “Slush” flavor from the brand—sixth if you count the equally frozen-treat-inspired Hawaiian Shaved Ice and Sherbet Swirl. I’ve got a crazy theory about this: I swear we didn’t see all these “Chill“, “Iced“, and “Slush” flavors until after the rise of vapes. Did the mentholated mouthfeel craze really come out of the smoke shops? We’ll never know for sure, but I think the idea has legs.
