C4 Energy dropped three new flavors on us at once earlier this month: the widely available Pink Lemonade, the Casey’s-exclusive Cherry Cola, and the Circle K-exclusive Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon. I’ll be reviewing all three of these in my quest to become Sporked‘s most caffeinated writer in service of you good people. Let’s crack open a zero-sugar energy drink that’s pretending it’s an extra-sugary juice drink. What could go wrong?

C4 Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon Energy Review

New C4 Energy Flavor!

Pros: Despite being clear of any coloring, this C4 Hawaiian Punch drink definitely tastes blue–a key requirement for any drink claiming to emulate a classic juice drink. According to the can design, Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon is a kiwi-blueberry blend; I appreciate that uniqueness in an ever-crowded energy drink space. (Do we need any more root beer-flavored energy drinks? I think we have enough.)

With 200 milligrams of caffeine per can, this is coming in a little higher than the average Monster Energy and right at identical to a 12oz Alani Nu. Whether you’ve been riding the Hawaiian Punch wave since childhood or not, this is worth picking up if you enjoy “blue” as a flavor.

Cons: Drinking this helped me realize I don’t know the OG Hawaiian Punch flavors well enough to evoke maximum nostalgia. Have I ever had Hawaiian Punch Berry Blue Typhoon? No idea. (Should I rank every Hawaiian Punch flavor? Let me know in the comments before my doctor tells me not to.) This is a good energy drink, but the brand affiliation doesn’t add anything to the experience for me personally.
