I’m a grocery store fanatic. I go out of my way to stop at Dollar Tree once a month (okay, well not a true grocery store but stick with me) just to check out their selection of fun drinks. I will absolutely bop around town if I have something coming up that I need specific snacks for.

If you’re the same sort of freak, this is the guide for you. Or maybe you just need a smidge of motivation to break out of your routine and check out a new grocery store. Either way, here are five snacks that I think are worth going to a different grocery store for.
Mid-America Farms “The Original” Top the Tater
I can’t pass up the opportunity to shine a light on the Midwest institution that is Hy-Vee. I wrote a whole article on the snacks that you should be getting at Hy-Vee but the one that’s absolutely worth a trip on its own is Top the Tater. This addictive dip that can be eaten with pretzels, veggies, or in one sitting with a bag of chips. I don’t quite know what’s in here. The label says sour cream, onion, and chives but I suspect there’s something far more nefarious hiding in it to make it so damn hard to put down!
Trader Joe’s Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix
Trader Joe’s! There’s a whole slew of snacks that we could choose from to justify a trip to Trader Joe’s for them alone. Heck, we’ve already done a whole round up of those. I’d say the number one product that I like to swing in and grab before a party is the Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix. It’s a unique product full of tangy, zippy, and a little bit spicy flavors. It’s the ultimate crunchy mix. Just learn my lesson and warn people about the chili peppers before they unsuspectingly dig in!
Simply Nature Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Granola
It feels a little crazy to even suggest that you take a trip to Aldi just for this granola. What can I say? It really impressed us. This is one of the best Aldi products that really made us raise an eyebrow. This dark chocolate granola is bitter like cocoa, actually salty, and unusual in a way that keeps you grabbing for cluster after cluster. On top of all that, it’s also gluten free!
Kirkland Signature Tortilla Strips
The caveat here is that you really need to be eating a lot of tortilla strips in the coming days. Who knows, you might be throwing a party, just bought a vat of nacho cheese that you need inspiration to help get through, or you’re about to open your own Chipotle. I don’t know what the future holds for you! All I know is this is one of our favorite snacks from Costco that I would absolutely make the trip for if I had a need for a whole lotta tortilla chips on the horizon.
Good & Gather Jalapeno & Tortilla Cheese Sticks
Appetizer/snack. What’s the difference?! You can absolutely snack on an appetizer so I swung over to our Target appetizer taste test for this last one. These aren’t your average fried cheese sticks! As Sporked’s Gwynedd Stuart put it, “The filling is more like pimento cheese than a solid piece of mozzarella. It’s soft, salty, peppery, and it has some heat. And the crunchy breading tastes like crushed corn tortilla chips rather than breadcrumbs.” In other words, these would be great to snack on before dinner.
