We all have at least one extremely fancy friend. Whether they’re rich or just have expensive taste, your fancy friend needs a gift when the holidays roll around. I am here to help you with that—without spending all your money.
I have a lot of experience in this category. My best friend is my fancy friend. She wants for little but has the taste of a British royal or celebrity fashion influencer. Her tastes are great, but pricey. When it comes to shopping for her, I struggle. This list is intended to help all of us shop for our fanciest friend. Don’t worry, this food gift guide only consists of food gifts that seem expensive.
- A Regional Sauce from Their Neck of the Woods
-
So many people no longer live where they’re originally from, so a little taste of home is an incredible gift. Give your fancy friend a literal taste of home with a fancy sauce from their hometown. Buy an assortment of Aardvark hot sauces for your friend from Portland. Friends from Mississippi? Send them some bottles of Thames Comeback Dressing. Nothing will tickle your friend from Texas quite like gifting them a gift basket of their favorite Whataburger sauces. It’s a simple, affordable, and thoughtful gift that they will definitely use.
- Beautifully Packaged Tinned Fish
-
Tinned fish is all the rage so your fancy friend probably loves it. But you can’t just get any tinned fish. You have to get cool tinned fish! Matiz Wild Cod in Spanish Olive Oil, Rugen Fisch Herring Fillets in Mustard Sauce, and the Ferrigno Sardines variety set are just a few of the options at my World Market. They are fancy, but still gentle on the wallet. This makes a great gift because your friend can enjoy it on their own or crack it open and put it out at a party.
- Every Product from Their Favorite Candy Brand
-
Until I started working at Sporked, I didn’t realize how many products certain candy brands produced. Trolli, Sweet Tarts, KitKats—they all make tons of different products aside from the flagship candies. If your fancy friend is a lover of a specific sweet, load them up with all the candies made by that brand. Any Nerds freak would love a gift bag of Nerds Gummy Clusters, Big Chewy Nerds, Nerd Rope, and classic Nerds. You can do this with any candy brand!
- Unexpected Fancy Drinks
-
Everyone gifts bottles of wine during the holiday season. Mix it up and give the gift of fancy, unexpected beverages! One year, my friend gave me a root beer of the month subscription. It was a blast! If they’re planning on doing Dry January, get them a case of For Bitter For Worse Eva’s Spritz. It’s one of our favorite non-alcoholic alcohol beverages and it feels really refined. If your friend is a huge wine fan, try something specific and unique. I love this Luv Yuzu Lite wine that’s infused with yuzu peel.
