Ben Stiller, one of our greatest living nepo babies, is planning to launch a low-sugar soda brand called Stiller’s. Do you think this idea came from his innie or his outie?
Ben Stiller is making a soda?
Per sources that don’t wish to be identified, Ben Stiller has been raising funds for the venture in his personal time. He filed for a trademark back in November relating to this venture, which gives us our first idea of the name of this new “fruit-flavored, carbonated beverage” brand: Stiller’s.
What kind of soda is it?
In one word? Healthier! The choice to go low-sugar is an obvious one in modern times. I’m no branding expert (although at this point, I’m pretty close), but there is one major problem with calling your carbonated beverage Stiller’s: The word still is right in there. Stiller’s Still Soda would at least be unique. There is a surprising market for non-fizzy beverages; I wonder if they thought of that before committing to carbonation.
Did we need a celebrity getting into the soda game?
Soda is one of the last spaces without a deluge of celebrity-backed brands. Other drinks have no shortage of big name backers: The Rock’s ZOA Energy, Seth Rogen’s Houseplant THC seltzer, Vanessa Hudgens’ Cali Water, and, like, 40 different tequilas. Ben’s Tropic Thunder co-star Robert Downey Jr. even has his own canned coffee line.
If I had to guess, actors haven’t gotten into making their own sodas because they’re all waiting for that big soda commercial payday. (Ben Stiller was in a Super Bowl commercial for Pepsi Zero Sugar a few years ago; maybe that’s where he got this idea.) I guess Ben’s making enough Apple TV+ money that he’s not worried anymore.
When can I chug my first can of Stiller’s?
