The drink of the summer? If you’re abstaining from alcohol, it’s gotta be Tom Holland’s N/A beer, Bero. Seriously, I haven’t heard this much chatter about a non-alcoholic beverage since…ever?

It’s not just because Tom Holland is attached (though it certainly doesn’t hurt). Bero is pretty darn good (for a non-alcoholic beer). The line launched with a pilsner, a wheat, and a hazy IPA. And now, there’s a new Bero: Double Tasty, a West Coast-style IPA. What is a West Coast-style IPA? It’s known for its hop-forward flavor and bitter edge. We’re talking classic hop flavors—crisp citrus and pine—and lots of them.

We got an early taste of the new Tom Holland beer, so pull on your Spidey mask, snuggle up with your nearest Zendaya, and read on for our full, honest review of the new Bero flavor.

Bero Double Tasty West Coast Style IPA

New Bero!

Bero Double Tasty West Coast Style IPA

Pros: Made with a trio of Mosaic, El Dorado, and Cascade hops, this new Bero definitely captures the telltale hoppiness of a West Coast IPA. It’s bitter, for sure, but not overwhelmingly bitter. You can still sip this non-alcholic beer solo—no need to pair it with food. There’s a touch of fruitiness that helps balance out those piney hops. It also goes light on the fizz—something you’ll see in many craft West Coast IPA-style beers—which helps make it even easier to gulp. Plus, per the brand, this beer is made with grains that are grown using “regenerative agriculture techniques that minimize the impact of farming on the land.” Eco bonus! Overall, I think this may be the best Bero flavor released so far.

Cons: Well-made as it is, there’s still a slightly cooked flavor that flags this as a non-alcholic beer. If you’re used to non-alcoholic beers, I don’t think you’ll notice. But if you’re new to the category you might sense that something is “off” about it. And if you don’t love hoppy, bitter beers, this isn’t for you. Try the Golden Pils instead.

  • Not sure who you chatter with. I’m pretty sure this is not going to be “the drink of Summer.” And I don’t know who Tom Holland is, so you’ll pardon me if I don’t get too excited there.
