We, here at Sporked, love dip. Dip is sauce’s thicker, more fun cousin. What’s not to like about that?! And when you’re craving dip, Costco is a perfect place to get it because Costcodips come in enormous containers. Whether you’re having a cocktail party or just a very good night at home alone, unbelievably large tubs of Costco dips are there for you.
If you don’t already have a Costco membership, we’d venture to say the dips alone make it worth getting one (although, you should already be set because Sporked’s Jordan Myrick told you to get one to buy this cake). We tried every dip currently sold at our local Costco and ranked them from worst to the best Costco dips and spreads. I had high hopes for this Costco salsa. The big tub is adorned with pleasing illustrations of garden veggies, so I was expecting fresh, crunchy, pico de gallo-esque salsa. Alas, it tastes faker than Pace Picante. It’s very, very tangy in a citric acid kind of way. If this was at a party, sure, I’d eat it. But I certainly can’t recommend you buy it and serve it at your parties. Your parties are better than that. — Justine Sterling

- Goldbergs Everything Bagel Smoked Salmon Dip

This sounds like your favorite bagel with lox converted into dip form, right? Sadly, it doesn’t pack enough punch for me. I wanted more everything bagel, more smoked salmon, and maybe a fresh element like scallions. This dip is pretty fishy and there’s not much everything bagel flavor. It does have a strong fennel seed flavor, which didn’t jive with the rest of the dip for me. It’s not horrible, but it’s certainly not the best Costco dip out there. — Jordan Myrick

You get so much salsa in this Costco salsa two-pack of green salsa and red salsa. So much. It’s just a shame it isn’t great as a dip. The Salsa de Molcajete Roja is really spicy (like, if you can’t handle spice, steer clear) with a good, charred flavor. But it’s just so thin! It’d be good poured onto a taco (it actually tastes like some of the salsa you get from the taco trucks out here in Los Angeles), but it falls right off a chip. And, since this is a ranking of the best Costco dip, I have no choice but to ding it. The Salsa de Molcajete Verde was no better. Though it has a tangy, tomatillo-heavy flavor and isn’t quite as spicy as its red cousin, it’s so thin. This Costco salsa duo is good if you’re serving tacos to an actual crowd, but it’s no good with tortilla chips. — Justine Sterling

- Kirkland Signature Organic Chunky Guacamole

I would describe this premade guacamole as the type of guac that “gets the job done.” I would not put it out at a get-together because it doesn’t taste that good. I would, however, slap it in a breakfast burrito because, as I said, it gets the job done. It’s nice that it comes in individual 2.5-ounce cups, making it convenient for lunchboxes and on-the-go snacking. If you’re in a hurry and need guacamole, this guac isn’t a bad option. — Jordan Myrick

I don’t understand how pine nut hummus became the grocery store default for hummus. Pine nuts have nothing to do with hummus. I do not know anyone or any restaurant that tops plain hummus with five pine nuts. I’m not saying it’s wrong or tastes bad! I just don’t really understand. Much like the pine nuts on top of the hummus, this hummus itself is very whatever. If you love the taste of store-bought hummus, I don’t see why you wouldn’t like this. If you like a more homemade or restaurant-style hummus, I would steer clear. — Jordan Myrick

I’m shocked that I liked this sweet Costco dip. I’m not a fan of pumpkin spice and never thought a sweet dip would make it so high on this list, but here we are. It’s actually a super fun and flavorful option for the fall season. This is perfect for dipping pretzel thins or apple slices. It is very sweet so it won’t be for everyone, but the cream cheese tang and the well-balanced spices are certainly tasty. — Jordan Myrick

This giant tub of Costco hummus is very, very creamy and shockingly chickpea-forward. It doesn’t taste homemade or like something you’d get at a restaurant, but it’s still better than a lot of store-bought hummus out there. The red pepper is subtle, but comes through as a tangy note. The thick, creamy texture is really what does it, though. It’s perfect for putting out with a platter of raw veggies; it will cling to even the smoothest cherry tomato. And if there’s any leftover, go ahead and use it as a spread in a sandwich or wrap. — Justine Sterling

If you’re in the market for cranberry jalapeño dip, Costco is the biggest name in the game. People love this stuff. And I can see why. It’s thick and creamy and tangy and fruity. It tastes like a cross between mascarpone and cream cheese, mixed with chunks of tart cranberries. I’d happily spread this on some toasted brioche or dip a chocolate-covered pretzel into it. But where’s the jalapeño? I didn’t get any spice at all, nor did I taste any grassy, peppery flavor. Still, it’s one of the best Costco dips I tasted—even without the jalapeño. — Justine Sterling

If you had asked me my thoughts on cold spinach and artichoke dip, I would’ve confidently told you, “Pass!” This Costco spinach artichoke dip changed my mind, though. It is so delicious. It’s so creamy and rich and thick. The spinach isn’t watery or too grassy. The artichoke pieces are large and plentiful. If you like veggies, this is the best Costco dip you can buy. — Jordan Myrick

Chipotle Bitchin’ Sauce is mega-viral and it makes sense why. This organic, vegan, gluten-free dip packs so much flavor into every bite. It tastes like hummus meets chipotle aioli, and I love it. (It cracked the top ten best Bitchin’ Sauces in our ranking.) You get a nice, nutty flavor and tons of tang and spice. Yes, spice! This dip is actually spicy! And it’s not too watery like other vegan, nut-based products. I will be buying this Costco dip regularly from here on out. — Jordan Myrick

La Terra Fina Artichoke & Jalapeno Dip is just as delicious and fancy as it sounds. If you’ve had the artichoke and jalapeno dip from Trader Joe’s, this is similar but 100 times better. It is so rich and super tangy. The artichokes are briny and the pickled jalapenos are bright. I brought this tub of Costco dip home and my family absolutely demolished it.
