Butterbeer Season is upon us and an impressive lineup of snack companies—I’m talking everyone from SkinnyPop to Goldfish—is releasing Butterbeer-flavored snacks. Potterheads, spice lovers, and people who can eat a whole stick of butter in a single sitting can now come together in the greatest display of world peace since the battle with Voldemort.
What the heck is Butterbeer season?
I see that you’re a muggle. Or maybe this is some sort of test to see if I’m the fan I claim to be… Anyhow, Butterbeer Season is an annual event put on between March 1 and May 31 by Warner Bros. Discovery to cater to the aforementioned Potterheads and buttereaters. In addition to limited edition Butterbeer snacks and merchandise at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in both Orlando and Los Angeles, there will be a Butterbeer Truck passing out free Butterbeer in multiple cities across the United States and a whole lineup of Butterbeer-flavored snacks in grocery stores. While other countries will have their own exclusive Butterbeer snacks (someone please send me the Butterbeer Pocky!), the four major Butterbeer snacks announced here at home will be made in collaboration with SkinnyPop, Keebler, Goldfish, and Hershey.
For those of you who, like me, wish they could eat butter without greasing their love handles, SkinnyPop is coming to the rescue. The sharing-size bag of Butterbeer popcorn is free of gluten, dairy, tree nuts, and peanuts. That’s right, no dairy. So you can sit through the whole Harry Potter marathon without getting the tummy rumblies. But if you want something a little sweeter, you can treat yourself to some Keebler Harry Potter Fudge Stripe Cookies. The cookie itself is Butterbeer flavored, with stripes of Butterbeer-flavored fudge on top to add a level of creaminess. The cookie comes in four unique designs and the whole bag of them will certainly go down my esophagus in about ten seconds. Beat that. Butterbeer Goldfish are next on the menu, with a rich butterscotch flavor and hints of vanilla, cinnamon, brown butter, and fruit. According to Food & Wine, the perfect blend of 15 seasonings were decided after multiple rounds of testing with Warner Bros. And you know if they’re involved, it’s gotta be goooood. The final item on our list is one we’ve actually had the privilege of trying early: Hershey’s Harry Potter Butterbeer Kisses. According to Tyler’s taste test, the rich and sugary butterscotch flavor is there without being overly sweet. The real drama is that there are only three foil colors: gold, blue, and red. So Slytherins, do we boycott?
