Faygo Is Bringing Back Two Fan-Favorite Fall Flavors

A lot of fall flavors are dropping―kind of like leaves (though to be fair, fall flavors are dropping a bit sooner than the leaves). So far we’ve seen cider flavored energy drinks, autumnally creamy Biscoff-flavored shakes, and of course the obligatory delicious avalanche of pumpkin spice.

But we gotta say, one thing we don’t see as much of―even though it’s fall―are apple flavors. Fall is apple season and America actually used to be so covered in apple trees, I wouldn’t be shocked to learn people wore special hard hats back in the day. But autumn really feels so… apple-appropriate. It’s the only season where we use “crisp” to describe the weather! Which is why we’re so glad to hear the flavor masters at Faygo are dropping not one, but two beloved apple flavored sodas just in time for fall: Jolly Green and Candy Apple. 

 A (Long) History Of Serious Faygo Flavor

If anyone was gonna bring us some appley goodness in abundance, it’s Faygo. The company is just batty obsessed with flavors. And there’s a reason: Faygo was founded by two Russian baker brothers turned their icing flavors into soda pop in the early 20th Century. 

The flavor-innovation hasn’t stopped since. Faygo, which is one of the most ubiquitous soda brands in the country, currently has over over 50 different flavors on its roster. We’ve tried… a bunch. And yes, in spite of the far-out concepts, we’ve actually enjoyed―like, really enjoyed―quite a few of them.

Comparing Apples To Bubbly Apples 

No shock, then, that lots of internet fans of Faygo are psyched to see the Jolly Green and Candy Apple flavors coming back. They’re just widely adored―and for very different reasons. In fact at first glance, it might seem weird, or over-ambitious, for a soda company to release two apple flavors (when most don’t release any). But then, this is flavor-obsessed Faygo. And, like we mentioned, fans are excited for the flavors’ return. 

Each flavor has a distinct profile, and seemingly distinct legions of fans. The Jolly Green Apple Faygo both looks and sounds a lot like what many reviewers agree it tastes like―Jolly Ranchers. It’s tarter and a bit sour, making it the lighter of the two. Candy Apple Faygo has that sheer red apple-sheen of, you guessed it, a candy apple, and tastes a bit rounder in its appley sweetness. Both flavors are inevitably Faygo sweet (with more than a few fans calling out for diet or zero sugar versions). But if you want to have a bit more fun, and fizz, with the whole “apple a day” thing, Faygo’s giving you two tart options.
