There have been a lot of cost-of-living-focused food offers in circulation this year. Some of these have taken the form of more traditional value menus, which aim (or claim) to offer their customers value for money at a time when budgets are way tighter. Others, though, have gone for a more direct approach, addressing the rising gas prices that people have been experiencing everywhere.

Cracker Barrel did just that last month with its new sweepstakes – and now, Hardee’s is doing the same. This time, though, it’s giving out free breakfast. Here’s how to get yours.

Running On Full

Yesterday, Hardee’s launched its Running On Full campaign, which looks gas prices right in the eye, and aims to offer customers a brief reprieve. “We want to make sure our guests are feeling full at breakfast, the fuel that actually powers you,” says Hardee’s vice president of brand marketing, Sarah Breymaier, in a press release. “This offer is our way of making sure our customers stay fueled even when their vehicles tanks may be running low.”

What this means in practice is that, from June 18 through July 2, you can avail of a complimentary Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit or Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit. To do this, you’ll need to head to hardees.com/runningonfull and submit a photo of your fuel gauge, at or below a quarter of a tank. After Hardee’s verifies the photo, you’ll get the offer through to your app (so you need to be a My Rewards member to take advantage of it), and you’ll have until October 31 to redeem it.

Cost-Conscious

This offer from Hardee’s is not only a welcome move, but it speaks to the brand’s continued focus on keeping its food affordable and accessible. A couple of months ago, Hardee’s added prime rib to its menu, a step that might have been perceived as trying to elevate it beyond some customers’ means – but it put its Prime Rib Burger at a starting point of $5.99. Clearly, the restaurant is trying to keep customer experience high and prices low (or, in this case, free), and it feels very welcome.

This isn’t the only free thing you can get this weekend, either. Head over to Smoothie King, and you can get a free smoothie on June 21, for National Smoothie Day. And yes, I appreciate that I just typed out the word “smoothie” three times in one sentence. It hurt my brain a little, too.
