Pickle Lemonade Is Now Absolutely A Thing

At the start of every week, I open my eyes, and I think, “Surely we’ve reached peak pickle.” Honestly. It’s the first thought that pops into my head. I’m consumed by it! In case my tone isn’t evident through your screen, this is, of course, not the case (usually, my first thought is “must feed cat meowing at bottom of stairs), but honestly, will it ever stop? Pickle cheese, pickle hot sauce, pickle butter, pickle smoothies, pickle Oreos…it goes on and on, and on, and on.

And now we have pickle lemonade. Yes! Pickle lemonade. Let’s discuss.

HOPWTR x Good Girl Snacks Pickle Lemonade

A couple of days ago, Good Girl Snacks announced its collaboration with HOPWTR on Instagram, and with it, the arrival of its Pickle Lemonade. This lemonade is actually an extension of Good Girl Snacks’ Hot Girl Pickles, of which it has several flavors, including Garlic Cumin, Honey Harissa, and Bread & Butter Chips. 

This lemonade, though, doesn’t have any of those left-field flavors (which is perhaps for the best, huh?), and instead focuses on a fairly straightforward combination of lemonade and a savory brine flavor, mixed with a sparkling water base. “Crisp, refreshing, and a little unexpected,” says HOPWTR of the drink. The duo’s Pickle Lemonade currently costs $29.99 for a twelve-pack when purchased online.

And How Does It Taste?

Well! It seems that HOPWTR and Good Girl Snacks have, perhaps wisely, erred on the side of caution with their Pickle Lemonade. An early review posted by @thepickledguy (who has reviewed thousands of pickle products since 2020) found that it had a very light pickle flavor, and said “It’s not bad…it could be a little more pickle-y,” before reiterating its mildness. A comment on his review on Instagram confirmed this sentiment, saying, “It tastes like green apple, no pickle at all.” 

To be honest, from my perspective, that doesn’t sound like the worst thing in the world (although you’d expect something that’s advertised as having a pickle flavor to…have a pickle flavor) – but then, I fear that maybe I’m not quite the target audience for this one. Or maybe I’m just burnt out from us all talking about pickles nonstop, and I’m craving something that doesn’t beat us all over the head with salinity and herbal notes. But I digress. If you’re in the market for a light pickle-adjacent drink, grab this one now.
