Look, call me old-fashioned, but I still have a soft spot for KFC. I know that for some (okay, a lot of) people, it’s not the best fried chicken out there, and hasn’t been for years—but there’s just something so nostalgic about driving away from its stores with a big ol’ bucket of thighs and legs or a greasy bag of boneless bites, ready to chow down.

Leftover KFC, though? That’s another story. KFC the next day can be, for want of a better word, pretty depressing, and it needs a liiiittle help. The solution? KFC chicken and waffle sliders. Yep. We’re going there.

Boneless KFC and Frozen Waffles Are a Match Made in Heaven

The level of flavor you get for how easy this breakfast recipe is should be criminal. To make it, all you need is some leftover boneless chicken (luckily, given KFC’s 2026 plans to increase its boneless chicken options, you won’t want for choices here) and a pack of frozen waffles. If you’re not sure which brand to pick, don’t worry—we’ve taste-tested all of the best frozen waffles for ya. You can also whip up fresh ones using a waffle mix if you’re so inclined.

Once you have your two primary ingredients, reheat the chicken in the oven or air fryer for a couple of minutes while you cook your waffles. When both of them are ready to go, place your chicken in your on one waffle, drizzle it with maple syrup or honey (or hot honey, if you’re really feeling dangerous), and then crown it with the second. Presto: breakfast perfection.

Jazz Up Your Chicken-Waffle Combo with Extra Ingredients

If you’re using relatively small waffles, these sliders will be ready for popping into hungry mouths with no further effort. If you’re using bigger ones, though, you can slice them into smaller squares to make little chicken-waffle bites. It can be helpful to do this before you assemble them, to keep things neat.

If you want to make things more interesting (and why wouldn’t you, we cry), then we recommend thinking of this recipe as a base, and throwing whatever you like on top. Add spice with sriracha or your favorite hot sauce, or creaminess with a dollop of ranch dressing. Throw in your favorite cheese, or add a couple of slices of bacon

Oh, and you can also use these chicken and waffle sliders as a vehicle for the rest of your KFC leftovers. Got some KFC fried cheese curds knocking around, or need a way to use up the rest of your fries? Your slider’s the perfect solution, people. Just stick a toothpick in the top of them to stop them from falling apart, once they get especially towering and unwieldy (and don’t forget to take them out before you eat them).
