I have two different retailer-exclusive Liquid Death sparkling waters in front of me—basically the same thing, right? Wrong. One of these drinks is based on one of my all-time favorite fruity cocktails and one of these drinks is made with ghost pepper.
For Target? A nice, refreshing pineapple coconut combo. And for Walmart? A flavor described as “Strawberry Lava.” Luckily (or unluckily) for me, Liquid Death sent over samples of both of these new sparkling waters so I could compare and contrast them for you good people.
Pros: No pun intended—this is killer stuff. I’m not a huge sparkling water fan, but this authentic Pina Colada-inspired drink might have turned me to the dark side. This covers up that nearly unavoidable sparkling water bitterness better than any sparkling water I’ve had before. (My favorite sparkling water is still Liquid Death’s pepper soda dupe Doctor Death, which uses that bitterness to further the flavor it’s going for.)
Cons: I brought a can of this to sample with fellow Sporked writer Tyler Bowers along with Mark and Lucky of the Jungle Jim’s Podcast. It ranked very highly with everyone except Lucky, our resident coconut hater. And as good as this drink is, it did not wash out the taste of frozen Cheez-It pizzas.

New Spicy Liquid Death!
Liquid Death Deathberry Inferno Sparkling Water Review
Sorry to buck the format, but the “pros and cons” system just doesn’t work for this drink. As someone with the spice tolerance of a baby chipmunk, I have nothing positive to say about the flavor of this drink. I have tried some questionable products in my time as a reviewer for Sporked; this is the only thing that has caused me genuine, sustained pain. Everyone I offered a sip of this to had the same reaction: Why is this water biting my throat?
But as much as I don’t enjoy this in any way, I have to admit it is an absolutely perfect rendition of what it’s aiming for; this is tailor made for TikTok challenges, unique cocktails, and “I’ll give you $20 to chug this” situations at parties. If this sounds appealing to you, this is exactly what you’re hoping it is.
