Whether it’s hot fudge sundae-flavored water or pleather diapers for mosh pits, Liquid Death is launching new products faster than we can decide if it was even a good idea. Their newest release is a little more pedestrian than gimmick, though: three new soda-inspired flavors in their sparkling water line. “Healthy soda” is a trend and the brand is tackling it with their usual energy. We got our hands on all three of these fizzy imposters to let you know which ones are worth it and which just fizzle out.
- Liquid Death Killer Cola
-
Pros: This is bizarre. The initial taste and the aftertaste are definitely store-brand cola, but there’s something in the middle, just a hint of something, that is a dead ringer for actual Coca-Cola. I can’t put my finger on it, but I actively wanted another sip to chase that dragon.
Cons: Cola-flavored things are awkward, because (hot take incoming) no one really likes “cola” as a flavor. Everyone just likes Coke—or Pepsi, if their parents didn’t give them enough attention as a child. This is a very good sparkling water, don’t get me wrong, it’s just awkward when the best comparison to a product is “store-brand cola.”

- Liquid Death Rootbeer Wrath
-
Pros: All three of these soda-inspired new Liquid Death flavors have the right aroma, but man, this is straight root beer to the nose. On the tongue? It’s watered down root beer. Imagine drinking a cup that contained a little root beer and a lot of now-melted ice and you’ll know what this tastes like.
Cons: Ultimately, the inherent bitterness that comes through sparkling water is hurting the flavor of all of these just a little bit. This is my least favorite of the three on account of that bitterness being the least hidden here. I know this isn’t supposed to replace root beer, so I’m not holding “not being root beer” against it. Even after all that, I still finished the can.

- Liquid Death Doctor Death
-
Pros: Please take this as the monumental compliment it is, coming from someone who has never really enjoyed sparkling water: I love this Liquid Death flavor. Somehow, that sparkling water bitterness is either gone or helping sell the “pepper soda” flavor. This even passed muster with my mom, who has been in a common law marriage with Dr Pepper for a few decades now.
Cons: I have no complaints. This might be the best sparkling water ever made, y’all. (But it’s still sparkling water.)
