Little Debbie’s New Swiss Roll Is A Real Pick-Me-Up

Behind the cuddly, old-school image that Little Debbie puts out is a steely business nous and an unstoppable desire for forward movement. I appreciate that might sound hyperbolic, but honestly, look how much this brand has done this year! It has been, frankly, headspinning. It’s dropped summer snack cakes. It’s put out soccer-themed treats. It’s announced a makeover of its products. It’s debuted new donuts. And to be honest, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s been a lot going on.

And now there’s another thing going on, in the form of its new Swiss roll. If I were a betting man (and I am, but not to the point where I actually want to lose any money), I think this one will be a hit at coffee mornings. Here’s the deal.

Little Debbie Mocha Swiss Rolls

The bakery brand announced in a press release yesterday that it was bringing out all-new Mocha Swiss Rolls. It stated that it developed this new product following customer feedback; we personally didn’t know there was such a demand for mocha-flavored baked goods, but it does make sense – I feel like there’ll be a vaguely tiramisu-like feel to this one. 

Each Mocha Swiss Roll starts with Little Debbie’s classic chocolate sponge, with a mocha-flavored creme layered in. Then, it’s rolled up, and covered with a layer of fudge coating. You get twelve cake rolls per box, wrapped in twin packs, the same as with its classic Swiss Rolls. 

And Are They Out Now?

No, they’re out on Sunday. Yeah. Strange day to drop them, but look, these people know things that we don’t! Little Debbie Mocha Swiss Rolls will be available from June 7 in stores nationwide, and if you wish to track them down for yourselves, then you can check out where they’re stocked on the Little Debbie website. 

It’s been a nice year for mocha flavors, which started to feel very old-school for a while there (a couple of years back, when I was working in a restaurant, we maybe had one customer order them every six weeks – but now it feels like it’s gently coming back). A couple of months back, Premier Protein dropped a mocha protein shake, while Denny’s decided to debut a Mocha Cold Brew at the start of the year. Dare I say that it’s a mochanaissance? Yeah, I do dare say that, actually. I dare so bad.
