We warned y’all back in January: Little Debbie is doing too much. But despite my better judgement, I have in my hands perhaps the most scandalous-sounding snack cake I’ve ever seen: Little Debbie’s Soft Baked Nutty Buddy Creme Pies. Ignoring that almost every word there would fit right in on a dating app profile, I’m looking forward to breaking into a crossover between two of this nation’s greatest pre-packaged desserts: Peanut Butter Creme Pies and Nutty Buddys.

Wait, these aren’t based on Oatmeal Creme Pies?

Not even a little! The shape and texture of the NBCP is very reminiscent of a slightly less well-known Little Debbie treat: the Peanut Butter Creme Pie! If you’re only familiar with the oatmeal variant, seek out the peanut butter version (or even the somewhat-rare snickerdoodle) ASAP. It’ll be a great stepping stone to the Nutty Buddy variant we’re trying today.

Is this Little Debbie’s first time crossing the confectionery streams?

Deborah has dabbled in the forbidden sciences a few times now, to great success. The best example to date would have to be the Zebra Cake Mini Donuts. I don’t know what it is about a zebra-striped miniature donut, but it just hits better than those regular LD donuts. (Little Debbie has also turned their classic Strawberry Shortcake Rolls into donuts, but “Strawberry Shortcake Donut” isn’t as wild an innovation as what we’re dealing with today.)

Of course, Little Debbie also has a robust lineup of frozen treats based on their classic cakes, bars, and textures. These have been out for a little while now, but we’ve never officially reviewed them here on Sporked. Should I tempt fate by pitching a ranking of ten different LD frozen treats? Sound off below. Now, onto the review of the treat I have permission to talk about.

New Little Debbie Cake!

Little Debbie Soft Baked Nutty Buddy Creme Pies

Pros: If you can believe it, covering a Peanut Butter Creme Pie with Nutty Buddy chocolate is a great idea. Absolutely delicious, no notes, will buy again. My grandpa absolutely loves Peanut Butter Creme Pies and Nutty Buddy bars; I’m looking forward to hand-delivering him one of these as proof that he doesn’t have to choose between them anymore.

Cons: I said no notes and I meant it. On the scale of pre-packaged snack cakes, you’re not getting anything better than this.

Where can I find this new Little Debbie snack cake for myself?

I found mine in a proud endcap display at Walmart, but you should be able to find these anywhere boxed Little Debbie products are sold.
