We talk a lot about Mountain Dew here on Sporked—from news on the latest drops to reviews of new flavors and reviews of discontinued flavors. We sure do the Dew. But what about the Mountain Dew flavors of yesteryear that never saw the light of day? The “could-have, would-have, should-have” Mountain Dew flavors that may have been planned but for whatever reason just never hit shelves? Thanks to the Mountain Dew Wiki, we’re highlighting some of the best Mountain Dew flavors that were never released.
- Cobra Cane
-
Originally set to release in 2023’s holiday window (November-December), Cobra Cane was a Strawberry Candy Cane flavor of Mountain Dew. While I am absolutely intrigued by this flavor profile, I can’t say I blame PepsiCo for wanting to shift away from Christmas flavors after Gingerbread Snap’d and Fruit Quake. (I still have cans of both, by the way, perhaps it’s time for another Discontinued Dew taste test?) Ultimately, Game Fuel received a release instead and Cobra Cane never saw the light of day. Perhaps it might be able to live on via a TikTok Shop drop in the future (like PepsiCo did with Gingerbread Pepsi).
- Peach Madness & Happy Dew Year
-
A large portion of the Mountain Dew community believes there is a curse surrounding peach flavors of Mountain Dew. And, after both Happy Dew Year and Peach Madness didn’t get released, I can’t say I blame them. Happy Dew Year was a peach flavor that was meant to drop around New Years to ring in 2020. It was canceled for unknown reasons and never saw the light of day. Fast forward to 2023: According to the Mountain Dew Wiki, a trademark was filed for “MTN DEW PEACH MADNESS.” Peach Madness was said to be released as a Wawa exclusive, but for whatever reason it also never saw the light of day. Perhaps one day we will finally receive a proper peach flavor of Mountain Dew.
- Mountain Dew Outpost Flavors
-
In May of 2022, PepsiCo opened a Mountain-Dew themed Outpost in Tennessee that ran for around a week and a half in June. It featured all sorts of Dew-sponsored activities, but most importantly featured the “MTN DEW Outpost Flavor Adventure,” which offered SIX never-released flavors: Pickle, Huckleberry, S’mores, Summer Pop, Elderberry, and Apple Cinnamon. Fans had a chance to try all six and vote for their favorite to help PepsiCo decide on future flavor releases. Summer Pop was the winner and showed up on shelves as Summer Freeze in 2023 and again in 2025. But the rest of the flavors never saw the light of day. While I’d be happy to try any of these other Mountain Dew flavors, I want that Mountain Dew Pickle flavor! Badly! Now that Subway has switched to Pepsi, maybe they should consider picking up the Pickle Dew as an exclusive flavor? Think about it, Subway!
- Glitter Dew
-
According to the Dew Wiki, there was a trio of three Mountain Dew flavors—a blue-hued Avalanche, a yellow-hued Celebration Bomb, and a purple-hued Haunted Brew—that were all set to debut between 2023 and 2024. All three supposedly featured edible glitter. Word on the street is that Avalanche was a cotton candy flavor of Dew (sign me RIGHT up), while the flavors of the others are unknown. Unfortunately, these Glitter Dews never saw the light of day. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was because of a cost factor, but I do hope they have their fair shot one day. I bet they’re gorgeous.
- Dewitos
-
We’ve gotta end this list on a bang. DEWitos, as the name implies, was a Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor of Mountain Dew. In 2014, Mountain Dew took to colleges and universities across the country to test a few different flavors from the “Flavor Vault,” including Lemonade with Ginger, Mango Habanero, Rainbow Sherbet, and Dewitos. While Rainbow Sherbet does sound delightful, I can’t help but be curious about Dewitos. It never saw the light of day, but part of me almost hopes for a giveaway or a TikTok Shop drop so I can try it. Just to see what it’s like!
