You know what? We love an ice cream sandwich. Yes, it’s not a gourmet dessert, but whoever figured out that cookies and ice cream go well when smooshed together deserves a Nobel prize, in our book. And we looove Chipwich, the ‘80s throwback that still tastes as good today as it did when it was first released (seriously – we’ve taste-tested a lot of ice cream sandwiches, so we know what we’re talking about here).

So when Chipwich announces a new flavor, we listen. When it announces two new flavors? We’re throwing our money at the brand as we speak. That’s exactly what happened this week, when Chipwich dropped the news that it’s adding two nut-studded additions to its line-up. Here’s what’s in store.

The New Chipwich Flavors Are:

Chipwich Vanilla Chocolate Almond

12% premium butterfat vanilla ice cream is stuffed between two homemade-style double chocolate chip cookies, and the whole package is then dipped in glazed almond pieces. It’s crunchy, it’s smooth, it’s sweet, it’s rich. It’s what’s for dessert.

Chipwich Brown Butter Pecan

Chipwich subs out vanilla ice cream for a sweet cream flavor here, but still keeps it 12% premium butterfat. Sandwiching the ice cream are two brown butter cookies, and the sandwich is rolled in glazed pecan pieces. Sounds like it’ll taste a little like Rebel Butter Pecan ice cream (a diet-friendly option that you’ll actually enjoy), but with a lot more crunch. And we love crunch.

More Nuts, Please

Crave Better Foods, the company that owns and makes Chipwich, announced the two new flavors in a press release. During the release, it also pointed out that while nuts are one of the most popular ice cream toppings, they’ve been conspicuously lacking when in sandwich form. “Chipwich has always been about doing things better—better ingredients, better texture, and better value,” Crave Better Foods president and founder David Clarke said in a statement. “Consumers love premium nuts in their ice cream, chocolate, candy, and other indulgences, but they have never been available in ice cream sandwiches. We’re excited to bring these new flavors to our fans in a way only Chipwich could execute.” We guess this makes these a world exclusive, folks.

Although Chipwich flavors have typically been pretty standard throughout the years, more recently, it’s started to mix things up. A few years back, it released a Girl Scouts Thin Mints flavor, which was a roaring success (Girl Scouts of the USA love a collab, apparently – it’s just started releasing new baking mixes with Miss Jones Baking Co). The ice cream sandwich brand also has a Birthday Cake flavor that taps into the modern insatiable love for the combo of vanilla, sprinkles, and a vague doughiness. We have a suspicion that its nutty flavors will be one of its biggest successes yet, though. They’re being rolled out now, so get ‘em while they’re hot…or cold.
