Listen up, campers, because Lucky Charms is bringing chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers to breakfast.
I know. Canoe believe it? I certainly canoen’t. But it’s real, and they really are giving us so much s’more than we bargained for. That’s right, Lucky Charms S’mores are set to hit stores come January, and I, for one, simply cannot wait.
Lucky Charms S’mores?!? Just how much campfire action we talkin’ here?
Lots, let me tell you. Lucky Charms S’mores differ from regular ol’ Lucky Charms in a few key ways. Firstly, the cereal part is chocolate (I assume much like Cocoa Puffs, for which I am cuckoo). Secondly, some of the marshmallows are just plain little white ones (like the kind you’d put in hot chocolate) and aren’t shaped like beautiful rainbow leprechaun poopies (I’ve always assumed leprechauns crap Lucky Charms marshmallows, but maybe that’s just a harmful stereotype). And lastly, they’ve added some graham cracker squares that bear a striking resemblance to Golden Grahams to complete the trifecta of flavors.
Chocolate cereal, marshmallow bits, and graham cereal. The holy trinity, the big three, the trustworthy trio. Truly, nothing wrong with this. I guess there’s a slight chance that the chocolate cereal won’t be quite chocolatey enough or that the graham flavor will overpower the other ingredients, but, honestly, General Mills has been around since 1928. If they don’t know what they’re doing with a new flavor launch, who does?
This will be Lucky Charms’ first flavor release since Lucky Charms Magic Gems were introduced last summer. As for other Lucky Charms variations that have debuted in the past, there are a bunch of absolutely ~charming~ ones, from honey to chocolate to cinnamon to fruit. This, of course, won’t be the first s’mores cereal to hit stores. General Mills competitor Post sells a chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker cereal, too (and it’s good). Turns out lots of people want an indulgent summertime treat at 8:30 a.m.
Also coming in January from General Mills: a new Hot Wheels cereal consisting of corn loops, car-shaped marshmallows, and one Hot Wheels car per box. Not to sound like a broken record, but this won’t be the first Hot Wheels cereal to hit stores, either. According to the blog Mr. Breakfast, I company called Ralston released a similar Hot Wheels cereal way back in 1990. So whether you have a need for speed or cozy campfire fare, General Mills has you covered.
