If you close your eyes and really focus, you can hear it. The sound of jingling sleigh bells in the distance. The whoosh of Santa’s sleigh as it slices through the air, with presents raining down for all and sundry. And…the crooning baritone of Gene Autry, singing a song that most of us have known since childhood. A tune that exists to tell the story of a certain celebrity reindeer whose luminous features served to guide Mr. Claus, like a homing missile, through the misty night to deliver gifts to children everywhere.

I’m talking, of course, about Rudolph. And this year, Autry’s timeless tune isn’t the only thing that serves to put respect on his name. Oreo’s doing the same thing with a new cookie.

Oreo Rudolph Red Colored Creme

Food content creator @markie_devo has revealed that Oreo is bringing out new Rudolph Red Colored Creme cookies for the Christmas period. These cookies have two things going for ‘em. The first is that they have, as the name suggests, a red creme in the center (which has the same taste as standard Oreos, according to the packaging). The second is that they come with five unique cutout embossments of characters from 1964’s “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” the classic holiday special. Depending on which cookie you grab, you could get an image of Santa, Clarice, Hermey, Bumble, or – of course – Rudolph. Watching said special with a cup of cocoa and a couple of these cookies? I’ve had worse festive evenings.

It’s no surprise, of course, that these will be a limited-edition item, and they’re due to drop in stores soon. So far, people seem to be pretty jazzed about these new cookies, mainly for the nostalgia factor they bring. If you’re looking for something with a new Oreo flavor, though, you’ll be disappointed: Cosmetic differences only here.

Festive Tones

This isn’t the first time that Oreo has brought a red creme to the table for Christmas. In fact, it did the very same thing last year, when it revamped its Joy Oreos, again bringing six individual designs to the table with a red center. But hey — if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it; just amend it. I think these sound fun, and kids will love them. Plus, the cookie brand isn’t resting on its laurels for 2026: there’s still a bunch of new stuff on the table. It’s just dropped new Gingerbread Cakesters, which are available for a limited time, and it’s got a new peppermint-inflected Puffs flavor coming out in November. There’s something for everyone, folks.
