Pillsbury’s New Cinnamon Rolls Are Perfect For Elf Fans

Looks like Buddy the Elf is going to have a busy year, and not just on TV screens around the world. The inimitable character, brought to life by Will Ferrell, has emerged as a mascot of sorts for General Mills’ collection of Elf-themed seasonal products. We were discussing those a few days ago: The line includes Elf cereal, Fruit By The Foot Elf Mini Feet, and Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake Elf Shape Sugar Cookie Dough. Incidentally, this isn’t the first food collab the character has been a part of; far from it, in fact. A few years back, HelloFresh dropped Buddy the Elf Spaghetti Meal Kits. That guy gets around!

Anyway, back to the General Mills collection, and one item that we think is emerging as an early fan favorite. It’s also dropping new Pillsbury Elf Cinnamon Rolls with Maple Icing, and people are extremely ready for them. 

Pillsbury Elf Cinnamon Rolls with Maple Icing

General Mills and Pillsbury’s Elf-ish new item is, if we were putting money on it, a surefire fall hit. Each ready-to-bake tube comes with eight cinnamon rolls and maple icing – and thankfully, Pillsbury isn’t messing around with trying to make them elf-shaped or anything like that. The Buddy of it all pretty much starts and ends with a cartoon version of the character on the packaging (and the fact, of course, that the character loves maple syrup – hence the flavor profile here). 

So, it’s actually a pretty simple product, but that’s not deterring customers. Far from it, in fact. Over on Instagram and Facebook, where several food content creators have been posting about these new cinnamon rolls, customers are responding with a chorus of approval. The general feeling is one of “oh my god, these things look great,” and people are already getting creative with how they’re going to serve them. “I wanna to add some maple glazed pecans into the rolls,” said one soon-to-be-buyer of the cinnamon rolls. “Glaze some pecans then add into the rolls baking it. Then topped off with gooey maple pecan glaze.” I mean, come on. Surely that makes you as hungry as it does me.

These new Elf-themed rolls are due to hit stores in the coming weeks, and while there’s no set release date just yet, General Mills probably won’t be sitting on their hands here. Christmas foods have already started rearing their heads, with Reese’s new festive candy mix and Walmart’s Christmassy Bettergoods ice creams teased in the last week, so we don’t think these will be far from their grand debut. When they do arrive, there will be a lot of happy big kids.
