We Investigated AirHeads’ White Mystery Energy Drink

The word “authentic” gets tossed around a lot these days. Usually, it means a drink wants to stand out from the generic options across the metaphorical street with the original flavor’s stamp of approval (or at least, their stamp of having been paid). However, RYSE Fuel recently secured an authentic flavor that no one can replicate: AirHeads White Mystery. Read on for my investigation into the truth behind this mysterious new energy drink.

New RYSE Fuel Flavor!

Pros: This definitely tastes like AirHeads, and I can’t tell what flavor it’s trying to be beyond that. By definition, that means RYSE can mark this a qualified success. Don’t let the length of this next section scare you off; this is a rocksolid energy drink (even if it isn’t my favorite RYSE Fuel flavor). I would happily drink this again–the highest mark I can give any drink in such a crowded market.

Cons: Let me do my best Marc Summers impression to tell you how AirHeads makes the actual White Mystery candy. Whenever the candy’s manufacturer needs to switch between two flavors, they add the new flavor into the last of the previous flavor’s batch to produce White Mystery. No dye is added, resulting in a colorless mixture of two random fruit flavors. For a mystery candy concept, it’s genius; there is no secret flavor to ever reveal (or have duplicated by a competitor) because it’s different from batch to batch.

From the perspective of recreating that ever-changing flavor? It’s damn near impossible. This tastes enough like my memory of White Mystery AirHeads that I know what they’re going for, but I have a feeling RYSE accomplished that by packing a little of every AirHeads fruit flavor into one recipe rather than combining just two. As a result, the overall multi-fruit flavor profile is vaguer than the dual-flavored candy it’s inspired by.

Where can I get RYSE AirHeads White Mystery Energy for myself?

As of now, there are a few easy places to find the new RYSE Energy flavor: The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Amazon, and TikTok Shop. The flavor seems to have launched early at The Vitamin Shoppe, meaning my local store was out of stock the first time I tried hunting this down for myself; RYSE Energy has a minor cult following, so I’m not too surprised. Now that the flavor has been on sale for a few weeks, you may have better luck.
