The Halloween foods keep on coming. That will likely come as no surprise to anyone, considering that we’re three weeks and change from the big day itself – but we’re getting to the point where food brands, restaurants, and supermarkets have largely set out their stall for the season. As such, in the last few days, there has been a flurry of new menu announcements and items (many of which, appropriately if not slightly strangely, contain ghost pepper this year), and there will likely be a couple more to come in this week, before everything’s finally in place. Prepare for the spook!

Sam’s Club has been preparing itself, too, with a big ol’ drop of Halloween-themed bakes. Boo! Ahh!
Sam’s Club Halloween Bakery Items
This year, Sam’s Club has brought two Halloween favorites back to its bakery section, both of which have been spotted by @samsclubfavorites on Instagram: Its Halloween Cake Balls and its Halloween Cutout Cookies. Both of them have a strong visual impact and are decked out in the prerequisite colors of spookiness (ie., orange, purple, black, and white), but the Cake Balls are way more eye-catching – quite literally. The Cake Balls consist of Purple Sprinkle Chocolate and White Eyeball Vanilla flavors, and the latter is designed to look like a bloodshot eyeball. They’re perfect for a ghostly Halloween platter, and you get 24 balls per pack, 12 of each flavor.
The Halloween Cutout Cookies, meanwhile, are slightly less eye-popping (hehe, sorry, couldn’t resist), but they’re still appropriately Halloween-y. Each pack has 15 iced sugar cookies, five each of a ghost, bat, and witch shape. Lightly spooky, then, and once again, good for a party.
And They’re Frightfully Good (Well, One Of Them Is)
While both of these are easy, hands-off options for Halloween events, I know which one I’d prefer here – and it’s the Cake Balls. Not only do they look so much more fun, but customers have absolutely loved them in previous years. They boast an impressive 4.6 out of 5 rating on the Sam’s Club website, and plenty of people have remarked on how tender and moist the cake is. No dry eyes here. The Cutout Cookies, on the other hand, are slightly patchier: Some people say they taste great, while others have said there’s a strong, vaguely unpleasant artificial note in them, and that there’s just too much food coloring going on. If you can only take one home, best to come equipped with that knowledge.
