Brands don’t really need an excuse to create a collaboration; if there isn’t a moment, season, or event they can tie their team-ups with famous figures and franchises to, they’ll create one. Halloween, though, presents brands everywhere with a golden opportunity to dig into spooky vibes while also leaning into nostalgia. The best example of this so far has been at Krispy Kreme, where the doughnut chain has collaborated with Looney Tunes on a new collection of bakes. Looney Tunes isn’t especially Halloween-tinged, sure – but it ticks a lot of boxes for a seasonal partnership.

But wait! Krispy Kreme isn’t the only one to transform its baked goods for the holiday. Sam’s Club is doing the very same, with a collaboration that feels very Halloween-appropriate.

There’s Cupcakes In The Air (/On The Shelves)

Sam’s Club has just dropped its new Nightmare Before Christmas Cupcakes, and anyone who was hoping to double down on their enjoyment of the Tim Burton classic this year will be overjoyed about this one. Each tray has 30 cupcakes in three different styles, adorned with purple, green, and white frosting and topped with sugar pieces. Those sugar pieces are, as you can probably guess, in the shape of Nightmare Before Christmas characters: Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogie are all featured.

You get 15 chocolate and 15 vanilla cupcakes per tray (the frosting color doesn’t indicate which flavor is which), and every cake is made in-house. If you ask me, these cupcakes are begging for you to eat them during a watch party for the film. The cakes join Sam’s Club’s other spooky baked goodies, which include Halloween Cake Balls and Halloween Cutout Cookies, for the next few weeks.

A Slam Dunk

When @samsclubfoodreview dropped a video of these cupcakes in her local Sam’s Club, her comment section responded appropriately – and by “appropriately,” I mean, “with much enthusiasm.” Sam’s Club shoppers are clearly very excited about these cupcakes, which cost just $16.67 per tray. The general consensus is that these are a super-cute addition to Sam’s Club’s Halloween lineup, and that kids are gonna love them (the easygoing flavors help with that, too). Just bear in mind that Sam’s Club may run out of the sugar pieces – some of the ones in the tray @samsclubfoodreview picked up didn’t have them on top – so if you’re really set on your cupcakes being characterful, try and get them earlier in the day.
