Snapple has been making interesting headlines this year. From returning to their iconic glass bottles (exclusively at NYC bodegas) to “un-rebranding” their logo back to what they used throughout the 1990s, Snapple wants folks to remember the good old days… of 2008.

The throwback vibe is carrying right through the summer with Snapple’s newest limited-edition flavor: Two Hundred Fif-TEA Party. Like every other drink brand on earth, Snapple is dropping a brand-new flavor to celebrate America’s semiquincenntennial. We snagged an early 6-pack at Walmart of all places; let’s find out whether this tea-lemonade combo will have us standing to salute.

New Snapple Drink!

Pros: I don’t want Snapple to get into a turf war with AriZona over this, but I absolutely love this patriotic raspberry Arnold Palmer. Snapple’s old tagline was “made with the best stuff on earth,” and this deep, sweet drink continues to prove that. Snapple Two Hundred Fif-TEA Party tastes like a real blend of raspberry tea and lemonade (or tea and raspberry lemonade, if that’s how you roll), likely because… it is! The ingredient list includes real tea, clarified lemon juice, and natural flavors–and no high-fructose corn syrup, just the real stuff.

I wish this drink were sticking around for the entirety of America’s 250th year. That said, I totally understand why this is a limited-time-only flavor; I’m sure Snapple doesn’t want to be on the receiving end of AriZona‘s wrath. You know why they call their chairman Don, right? (It’s his name.)

Cons: The lid on this drink briefly terrified me, y’all. “Scan QR Code for a Fun Time Every Time”? Did they really replace the Snapple Facts with a QR code? Call me a technophobe, but I’m tired of the QR code-ification throughout our lives (okay, just our restaurants). Kids, I remember when we got to see a URL before traveling to it.

All that concern turned out to be for naught. The lid actually points consumers to a QR code on the side of the bottle, directing them to a New York City “summer experience” giveaway that Snapple is running alongside this new flavor. The lid of the bottle I downed for this review featured Snapple Fact #110: Frogs never drink.
