We live in the age of the creator. There’s no getting around it: Over the last decade or so, YouTubers and TikTok stars have not only infiltrated but dominated popular culture, with the latter’s impact on more traditional mainstream media especially obvious this year following the success of “Backrooms” and “Obsession” (both directed by YouTube wunderkinds). These platforms, and the content and content creators on them, have also had a big presence in the food world recently, with Jake Shane teaming up with Panera a couple of months back.

Now, we’re seeing another YouTube-and-food-chain team-up, in the form of Taco John’s Fat Grilled Burrito. What’s this all about? Let’s dive in.
Taco John’s x The Fat Electrician
Last week, Taco John’s announced the Fat Grilled Burrito, a limited-time menu item inspired by Nic Flood, aka “The Fat Electrician,” the creator and face of the YouTube channel @TheFatFiles. In a video posted at the end of May, Flood raved about Taco John’s, completely independently of any marketing contract or brand partnership. Over 14 minutes, he discusses the prominence of Taco John’s in the Midwest and its various virtues – and the comments on the video affirm his viewpoint.
Cut to a few months later, and Taco John’s and Flood are now working together, with Flood working alongside fellow YouTuber and friend @VeteranWithASign to create a new burrito. The Fat Grilled Burrito was the result of this. Containing grilled chicken, sirloin steak, Potato Olés, nacho cheese, a four-cheese blend, and Chipotle Ranch, it’s a hefty meal that will set you back $8.99 and will more than likely keep you full for a minute. “Taco John’s let me create the burrito I’ve always wanted, and I can guarantee one thing: it’s going to be delicious,” Flood said in a statement. And you know what? We believe him. That all sounds very good to me today.
A Burrito With A Cause
Taco John’s collaboration with Flood isn’t without purpose. The chain, Flood (who served in the Army as a Combat Medic), and @VeteranWithASign’s Fat Grilled Burrito will support military members, veterans, first responders, and their families, with charitable donations coming from a portion of the proceeds of each sale.
Bear in mind, though, that you don’t have long to try this new menu item. The Fat Grilled Burrito is available only from August 13 to August 27, at participating Taco John’s locations. Hop to it, folks!
