New Zealand, Australia, and Canada fans have already gotten hands on McDonald’s latest Happy Meal toys. Now, the U.S. is finally getting in on the fun.

McDonald’s is bringing the wild crossover of Spongebob Squarepants x One Piece stateside on September 15th, with 15 collectible toys featuring Bikini Bottom favorites dressed up as One Piece characters.
SpongeBob Is Luffy, Patrick Is Zoro, And It Gets Weirder
The whole idea behind this collection is to take your favorite residents of Bikini Bottom and turn them into characters from One Piece. So SpongeBob becomes Monkey D. Luffy, Patrick Star becomes Roronoa Zoro, and Squidward gets to play Sanji. And somehow, these combinations look much better than they have any right to.
Then there is Gary, who gets dressed up as Tony Tony Chopper. Sandy Cheeks becomes Nami, while Plankton gets the job of Usopp.
Mr. Krabs is Jinbe, Larry the Lobster is Franky, and Pearl becomes Nico Robin. The Flying Dutchman gets a particularly wild makeover as Blackbeard, while Mrs. Puff becomes Big Mom.
There are also toys featuring Mermaid Man as Garp, Barnacle Boy as Koby, and another SpongeBob dressed as Luffy in his Gear 5 form.
The Toys Have Already Been A Hit Overseas
U.S. fans have had to watch from the sidelines while other countries got their hands on the collection.
New Zealand and Australia got their SpongeBob and One Piece Happy Meal toys in August. And later Canada got theirs. But the good thing about the U.S. launch is that there are more toys.
A total of 15 Happy Meal toys are coming to the U.S. on September 15th, so the wait is almost over.
McDonald’s Has Been On A Happy Meal Roll
The SpongeBob x One Piece Happy Meal collab might be the biggest in recent times considering the number of collectibles they are giving out.
Just before SpongeBob and One Piece arrived, McDonald’s launched its Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal in August. That one paired adorable Sanrio characters with giant monsters, with a total of 15 exclusive collectible toys.
There was also the Stranger Things Happy Meal with 12 collectible toys in April. Then BT21 returned to McDonald’s in July with another collection tied to the characters created by BTS. That set included 10 Happy Meal toys.
Arrives On September 15th
The SpongeBob x One Piece Happy Meal arrives at participating McDonald’s restaurants across the U.S. on September 15th. The promotion is scheduled to run for a limited time and McDonald’s has not announced a specific end date. It certainly sounds like this collab won’t be around for long.
