Remember Nitro Pepsi? (No? Just me?) How about a can of Guinness? Well, the folks at VALR have taken that little nitrogenation puck at the bottom of those cans and put it into a line of energy drinks. I got the chance to sample the whole lineup at the Arnold Sports Festival earlier this year. Let’s run through these innovative new drinks and see whether VALR has energy.
- Berries & Cream VALR Energy
-
Pros: Oh man, I love this drink. I was wondering how they got such an authentic berry taste into this energy drink when I realized this drink is 19% juice—almost all of which is strawberry. The nitrogenation really smooths out the texture; if you’re anti-carbonation, this is way more interesting than the competition’s “fizz-free” line. This is the flavor that convinced me I needed to cover VALR Energy ASAP for y’all.
Cons: Some of my fellow taste-testers were too cowardly to appreciate the full tartness that this drink has to offer; I think less of them for this.

- Blueberry Tart VALR Energy
-
Pros: This is both sweet and, as the name implies, tart! Blueberry is an underrated energy drink flavor, so I’m glad to see it get a spot in the starting lineup for VALR.
Cons: While Berries & Cream actually felt a little tart-er to me personally, there was less to balance the tartness in this flavor. That said, since every can of VALR is just 10.5oz, it’s easy to down a can without any of these flavors overstaying their welcome.

- Orange Cream VALR Energy
-
Pros: I enjoyed all four flavors of VALR that I got to try. (VALR was nice enough to let me try a fantastic flavor slated to release in 2026, but it’s definitely too early to review here. I’ll be sure to give y’all an update when I can.) And that includes Orange Cream but…
Cons: Despite this sounding like a match made in heaven for a nitrogenated drink, Orange Cream is actually my least favorite VALR flavor for an unexpected reason. The orange flavor is very authentic due to the real orange juice, which didn’t sell the “orange creamsicle” concept for me. What a double-edged sword.

Where can I find VALR Nitro Energy Drinks for myself?
VALR Energy is just getting started in the retail distribution game, but you can find Orange Cream and Blueberry Tart on Amazon right now. Berries & Cream VALR just launched at select Giant Eagle stores in the upper east coast, with an online release expected to follow. Stay tuned to their website for more retailers dropping as soon as folks find out how good this stuff is.
