Walmart’s New Fall Cookies Will Keep You Warm

Fall’s bakes are coming thick and fast, people. Now that we’re on the cusp of the weather turning (although we’ve still got a good month or so, but that’s never stopped food companies getting a head start), we’re seeing fall- and Halloween-themed ready-baked and bake-at-home cookies and cakes arrive with rapid speed. Sam’s Club, Target, Betty Crocker: You name it, they’re selling it.

Never one to be outdone, it’s now Walmart’s turn – and as with a lot of other retailers and food manufacturers, it’s going for a more diverse flavor palette this year. Here’s what’s on sale. 

King Krumb Cookies

A few months ago, we were talking about King Krumb, a New Jersey bakery that creates massive cookies stocked at the store – and are, in effect, Walmart’s Crumbl dupe. This year, King Krumb’s leaning into Halloween with two flavors (one of which feels way more Halloween-y than the other, but we’re not gonna grumble – krumble? – about new cookies). 

The first, according to @markie_devo, is a Candy Corn cookie, which looks like a sugar cookie topped with a dual swirl of candy corn flavor and topped with sprinkles. The second is a Mud Pie flavor, and, as you’d expect, it goes big on the chocolate. They’re sold in a two-pack with one of each, and they’re hefty fellas, weighing in at 156 grams each. Whether you share them is up to you.

And now, we traverse over to Walmart’s own Marketside brand, with its new Cookie Platter, each containing 32 cookies – and eight of the following flavors: Pumpkin White Chocolate, Apple Pie, Sweet Potato, and Caramel Butter Pecan. Not a pumpkin spice in sight! 

Okay, I’m 99% sure that the Pumpkin White Chocolate comes pretty close, but by and large, Walmart has avoided pumpkin spice fatigue here, with this selection at least. These flavors have a decidedly more classic, Thanksgiving-esque feel, and I like the push for something slightly different. Be warned, though: Some customers are already saying that these cookies are a little dry. Might need a glass of milk to hand.

Both the King Krumb cookies and the Marketside Cookie Platter are on sale now. While you’re there, check out what else Walmart’s been cooking up on the baked goods front: It’s just dropped a pair of new breakfast breads in its Bettergoods line, in Lemon Huckleberry and Ube Coconut Swirl flavors.
