Ella Langley's Peach & Honey Energy Has Us Choosin' BUM

BUM Energy has partnered with country superstar Ella Langley on a new energy drink. Considering her recent domination of the Billboard charts, it’s surprising she’s partnering with a relative unknown in the energy drink space; maybe she has a soft spot for the underdogs. Regardless, I picked up a can of Ella Langley’s Peaches & Honey BUM Energy at Target a few days ago to review for you good people.

Did you just say “BUM Energy”?

I swear, I get this question every time I crack one of these open in front of someone new. Yes, the name is really BUM Energy. “Why?” The brand was created by multi-time Mr. Olympia winner Chris Bumstead. Get it? Bumstead? BUM? Let’s just move on.

Each can of BUM Energy contains about the same amount of caffeine as a 12-ounce cup of coffee, with no sugar or artificial colors. Last year’s Dr BUM Energy made it onto my Top 5 list, so I’m looking forward to their take on this very specific fruity concept. Speaking of, let’s crack this can open and see if it has us singing.

Peaches & Honey By Ella Langley BUM Energy Drink Review

Pros: In both texture and flavor, this feels like drinking the syrup leftover in a can of peaches. The honey flavor comes in at the end, but the majority of your initial taste is pure peach–no small feat for a zero-sugar energy drink with no actual fruit juice. (That isn’t a knock; I’d like to see you figure out a peach energy drink with real fruit juice and no sugar.)

This is leagues above the last peach-focused energy drink I tried in terms of authenticity; my dear Southern grandma would knock out a can of this Peaches & Honey energy drink without thinking twice.

And bizarrely enough, this drink actually fits the genre of country music as well. While other energy drinks belong at EDM festivals (Red Bull) or Slipknot concerts (NOS cut with Faygo), this lower-caffeine option feels perfect for sipping at those day-long country festivals where all the plastic cowboy hats end up melting to their owners’ skulls. Even the can’s color scheme matches most of what the country audience seems to wear.

Cons: The syrupiness might be a little much for some people; not all of my taste-testers were ready for the strength of flavor and texture on display here. (Wimps.)
