Folks, I’m proud to be a tenured reviewer across several high-priority fields of study here at Sporked: Red Bull, OREO, countless fast food chains, and more. That said, Crumbl is not one of the brands I can claim on that list. Sure, I’ll tackle a cookie (or six) every once in a while if they’re particularly relevant to my oeuvre, i.e., soda, Little Debbie, or Minecraft. Without a doubt, our own Rachel Jones really sits on the throne of Crumbl coverage. She covers the weekly Crumbl menu rundown every Sunday and, more often than not, reviews at least one new treat from the lineup.

Since Crumbl blessed us with three new cookies this week, I’m here to tackle the two less-flashy options after Rachel’s review of the new Peanut Butter Cup Blondie Cookie. Let’s find out whether Crumbl’s Halloween Sprinkle Cake and Halloween Red Velvet Cookies are treats worth dressing up for or just a trick haunting our very souls…

New Crumbl Cookie!

Pros: If you roll up to a Halloween party this weekend with a few of these in tow, no one will complain. Crumbl has executed a solid elevated version of the classic “iced sugar cookie with sprinkles” concept… even if it isn’t new at all.

Cons: Yes, it turns out this week’s Halloween Sprinkle Cake Cookie is, wait for it, just a black, orange, and white variant of a dot cake-inspired cookie that debuted back in June. (No spoilers, but the second cookie I’ll be covering today is a minor variant of a recipe that debuted in late 2022–new is a significant stretch for either of these.)

Halloween Red Velvet Crumbl Cookie Review
Crumbl Halloween Red Velvet Cookie

New Crumbl Cookie!

Pros: Despite Rachel calling the Peanut Butter Cup Blondie the “Spookiest” Crumbl Cookie in her headline, I’ll argue the cookie with a mock blood-splatter drizzle is slightly spookier than the fantastic-sounding peanut butter miasma she reviewed this week. In terms of Halloween theming, this cookie is #1 across the lineup, no doubt.

While this isn’t the best red velvet cookie I’ve ever had, it checks every box needed to be a solid offering. Much like the Sprinkle Cake Cookie, no one will be disappointed to see this on the dessert table at the Halloween party. In a vacuum, these cookies are equal in quality; I just prefer red velvet over basic iced sugar cookies. If you’re choosing between these two options, just follow your heart.

Cons: I’d love the vanilla cream cheese frosting to lean a little harder into cream cheese; I’m not picking up a red velvet dessert to taste vanilla.

What else is on the Crumbl menu this week?

Aside from the decidedly non-spooky Peanut Butter Cup Blondie and the two whelming cookies reviewed above, Crumbl has four other cookies to choose from–plus a cake! On the cookie front, you can choose from Rainbow Shake, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Dirt Cake, and the classic Chocolate Chip (in standard or Value Menu-sized thin). In addition to the seven cookies on offer, you can also get yourself a Cookies & Cream Tres Leches Cake; I’ll be digging into that to bring a little excitement back into my life after the mundanity of today’s review. Check out Rachel’s rundown below for the full details on every Crumbl treat available this week.
