“Scoopable cookie dough” has been trending on social media for a hot minute, and no one watches cookie-related trends more closely than Crumbl. This week, the sugary pink patriarchs have landed on their own version of this viral concept–with an ice cream-inspired mousse dip to boot.

Crumbl was nice enough to send over this new dessert for yours truly to review. Per Crumbl’s official description, this new scooped dessert consists of “warm, baked, gooey brown sugar cookie dough packed with melty milk and semi-sweet chocolate chunks served with a large dollop of ice cream-inspired vanilla bean mousse”. I am a huge fan of every single adjective in that sentence, so I’m looking forward to finding out whether Crumbl has reinvented the wheel here.

New Crumbl Dessert!

Pros: Crumbl spends a lot of time and energy innovating crazy kinds of cookies (for better or for worse), but this light twist on a classic combination is a wonderful return to form. The brown sugar cookie base feels rich and homey, while the mousse genuinely delivers ice cream vibes (partially because it’s served cold in contrast to the warm cookie dough) without melting over time and turning the last few bites into more of a stew. I hope Crumbl makes a habit of translating their existing cookie recipes into these new scooped desserts; I need a Red Velvet variant with a cream cheese dip.

Cons: I am a little confused by the concept of “baked cookie dough”. This doesn’t have raw cookie dough texture, but it’s still softer than Crumbl’s already-soft, warm-baked chocolate chip cookies… while maintaining a baked crust texture of sorts in certain places. Crumbl regularly gets dinged for feeling underbaked; have they just leaned into that for this new concept?

What else is new at Crumbl this week?

While we all think of Crumbl as dropping shiny new treats every single week, they’ve actually built up such a strong library of previous flavors that this week’s Scoopable Cookie Dough is the only new treat in the lengthy lineup. The Strawberry Heart Cake, Confetti Cake Batter Cheesecake, OREO Brookies & Cream Cookie, Caramel Apple Cookie, Sea Salt Toffee Skillet Cookie, and Frozen Hot Chocolate Cookie desserts are all returning from previous menu lineups. According to the meticulously managed “Every Crumbl Cookie” website, the Caramel Apple Cookie is the most prolific; this week marks the eighth week in Crumbl history that this cookie has been available for sale.
