Walmart’s Newest Butters Might Be Our Favorite Foods Yet

My kingdom for a compound butter. It may be up there as one of the most underrated foods around: Always delicious, easy to put together if you have the ingredients and a few minutes, generally affordable if you’re buying a premade version, and yet, so often an afterthought. Unless you’re a chef or you’re spending a lot of time making the perfect steak, you’re probably not going to be whipping up a compound butter for your average meal. And that’s a shame, because it always hits different.

Well, it’s a good day to be both a compound butter fan and a Walmart shopper. The supermarket has expanded its Bettergoods range yet again, and there are three new butter sticks for the masses to choose from. Rejoice. 

Walmart Bettergoods Butter Sticks

A couple of days ago, @candyhunting revealed that Walmart’s Bettergoods line is getting a trio of new butter sticks, all of which sound unreasonably delicious. Each stick has 82% butterfat, giving it slightly more than the standard amount needed for American-style butter (which basically means more creaminess, more flavor, more everything).

The three flavors are:

• European Style Steakhouse Butter Stick: Designed for steak, this butter stick is infused with parsley, garlic, salt, and peppercorns. It’d go with plenty of other meats too, though. 
• European Syle Roasted Garlic Butter Stick: Simple, but effective: Roasted garlic and butter. Will go with absolutely anything. 
• European Style Honey Cinnamon Butter Stick: Daub this one onto your rolls; add it to pancakes, spread it on bagels; eat it straight from the pack (okay, maybe don’t, but I’m not going to stop you). 

As yet, these new butter sticks haven’t appeared on the Walmart website, but they’ll be in stores soon. 

Bettergoods, Better Food

This release follows a parade of recent drops in Walmart’s Bettergoods line, which we’ve been covering extensively over the last few months, and which is making a very concerted push for way more interesting options and flavors. Most recently, the store released its new Bettergoods fall desserts, including a pumpkin chai cheesecake, and we’ve also seen new frozen shrimp flavors, mac and cheese packs, and breakfast breads. Whoever’s behind development at Bettergoods needs to take a bow right now, because these are all going down a storm with customers. “Better goods has me in a chokehold,” said one person in the comment section of @candyhunting’s post about these new butters. We get it.
