I love World Market. When I want to role play as a rich person, I walk around and pretend I do all my shelf-stable grocery shopping there. “Why yes, I do need more imported pasta shaped like dogs.” Back in reality, I’m there for exactly one reason: to find exotic variants of familiar brands to review right here on Sporked. A recent trip paid true dividends when I found Strawberries & Cream Pepsi Zero and Vanilla Latte Oreo cookies, both from the far-off, exotic land…of Britain. Hmm.

Okay, full transparency: I either misread a label or these were stocked on the wrong shelf, because I swore these Vanilla Latte Oreos were Australian right up until I tracked down the product image seen below. The latter theory isn’t impossible; World Market had these next to multiple interesting Australian Oreos like Cadbury Caramilk and Pascall Marshmallow. (If you want to see those reviewed, let me know in the comments.) I even had a whole paragraph planned to cover how Columbus, Ohio and the southwestern corner of Australia are literally on opposite sides of the planet. Alas, Vanilla Latte Oreos are slightly less foreign than I expected. Let’s see if they make up for it in “flavour.”

“Exotic” Oreo Cookies!

Vanilla Latte OREO Cookies from the United Kingdom: Reviewed

Pros: The difference in texture of international Oreo variants always surprises me. This time around, the cookie was crisper than usual, while the creme filling was actually thicker—both in height and mouthfeel. Part of that thickness can be attributed to the fact that these Vanilla Latte Oreos feature two different flavored layers of creme, rather than a single Double Stuf-sized layer.

The coffee flavor didn’t make itself known until the end of my first bite, but I was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity. I have a feeling this idea started as plain old coffee-flavored Oreos until the lab realized the creme really lends itself to a latte.

Cons: As a big fan of the Tiramisu Oreo Thins, I would love a stronger coffee flavor. The vanilla creme layer is just here to appease people who aren’t big coffee enjoyers, and it brings the coffee of it all down a few steps. Maybe you’re supposed to dip these in coffee…
